Bob Crockett Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 All works on our part require perfection from our conception to the point of death without ever sinning in thought, word, or deed if we are to get to heaven through obeying laws (which is impossible because no one, except for Jesus, could ever do this). coolrok7 Posted February 20, 2011 Author Posted February 20, 2011 Tao, Paul raises the issue (bolded part) just after stating what the Gospel is and that one is saved if one believes this which is by grace through faith, not of works (written about in Ephesians). After establishing that he then goes to the issue concerning those who deny the resurrection (which is the basis of the point he is making, that the dead are raised) he later makes the contrast of a mortal body vs. a resurrected body i.e.- the difference in the glory of the resurrected one and the mortal one and contrasts that with the differences in the glories of the sun, moon, stars not that these represent the levels of heaven as taught by Joseph Smith. TAO Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Tao, Paul raises the issue (bolded part) just after stating what the Gospel is and that one is saved if one believes this which is by grace through faith, not of works (written about in Ephesians). First of all, I need a reference to the part that says one is saved if one believes this (and that nothing else is required.Second, you aren't saved by grace through faith. It is that by grace, you are saved through faith. However, you are also by grace, saved through works. In Ephesians, Paul says 'Not of works, lest any man should aboast.' This is referring to that you are not saved through works without grace, in other words, your works don't make grace any more unnecessary. But it doesn't mean that works aren't required. It simply means that works don't cancel out grace. As Paul said, grace is a gift. It is the capability you are given. You are saved through faith. But considering that works are part of your faith, you are also saved through works. However, for either of these to work, the grace of God, a gift, must be given. And God did so give it.After establishing that he then goes to the issue concerning those who deny the resurrection (which is the basis of the point he is making, that the dead are raised) he later makes the contrast of a mortal body vs. a resurrected body i.e.- the difference in the glory of the resurrected one and the mortal one and contrasts that with the differences in the glories of the sun, moon, stars not that these represent the levels of heaven as taught by Joseph Smith.
