Jeff K. Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 the church commandments/principles are fine for church members, but asking members to go out and limit freedoms of others goes against the 11th article of faith:We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.and no the church did not "ask members to support", they *required members to oppose* gays who wanted the right to a legal marriage:this also gives no room for members who differ in opinion to vote differently on this political subject. it's one thing to believe that homosexuality is against god's commandments, but for those who choose to continue to practice homosexuality, it's kind of already too late to then try and limit them further. stopping them from getting married isn't going to stop them from living homosexual lives and in homosexual partnerships. should the church really force everyone to live their personal beliefs and commandments? all you accomplish is just hurting people and pissing them off. this all goes against the 11th article of faith and it reminds me a little of islamic sharia (obviously minus the beheadings and stoning, etc)--a religion trying to decide how even non-believers must live.Sex between men is not a religion. No requirement was made, indeed there are members in my ward that were against prop 8, gave nothing and did not support the idea. No one treated them differently. The point you raise is a false one and reflective of your own dogmatic judgement of others.Since you are completely ignorant of Sharia law I will simply place that in the catagory of another ignorant person judging another religion by using the bigoted stereotype of a third religion. I am sure you think of yourself as enlightened. Your last post makes you an intellectual neandertal who would use a club rather than dialogue. You have of course, completely undermined your position.
MorningStar Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 MorningStar, MorningStar, MorningStar ... Tsk, tsk, tsk! I implore you: please don't underestimate the immense power of the XJ-330 Mind Control Chip! And it's apparently activated by the wearing of dresses and suits and ties.
elguanteloko Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 From my point of view, God ordained marriage and it feels sacreligious to use the term to describe a union between two men.and?
