BCSpace Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 I haved coached a lot of girls soccer; u12 thru u19. So I found this interesting. Maybe someone else will too:The only woman on the field is running along the length line, letting the rain drops mess up her hairstyle. She is quick to wave the flag when the ball passes the line, drawing a dirty look from the Hapoel Tel Aviv player who kicked the ball out. This is all a typical Saturday for the lineswoman Hiba Arja. On Saturdays, Arja is not the same person that she is during the week. When we meet a day earlier, nothing about her looks
volgadon Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 I doubt she'll be refereeing during any Beitar games, or even during the Poel and Macabi derby!
mmmcounts Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I heard some things about the prospect of having female Arab referees. Saw a few videos of various football/soccer players giving their opinions. It really varied from person to person and place to place. It'll be interesting to see what happens at the highest level of competition if it ever comes to that, especially since the truly elite Arab players would have at least some participation in one of the European leagues.
mmmcounts Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 It's good to see a bit of an update on how all this is going.
