semlogo Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 I stopped at the first article. I don't understand WHYWhy what? Why we fall in love? Because it is advantageous for us to do so. Please read all articles before continuing.
lostindc Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Why is a very interesting question. When one receives an answer to the question of why, he can simply ask why that answer holds. This technique is so powerful that four-year olds routinely use it much to the disturbance of their parents.Thats kind of what I was going for...
cdowis Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Can you make any kind of sense out of the earth having a spirit and the reason it does? And this is the kind of logic that lead you to atheism. Not very impressive. Well, the short answer is that sometimes things don't always "make sense".For example, can you make some sort of sense out of quantum mechanics. It doesn't make any sense at all, but there it is. And, frankly, there are some in evolution that don't make sense. Spiritual things -- keeping the Sabbath holy, paying tithing, etc, make no sense to the godless. But it will become very apparent in the next world, and I am patient. In the meantime, you can enjoy your accomodations in the great and specious (pun intended) building. I understand that it has an excellent balcony view.Speaking of "why" and the reason for something, I remember asking my physics teacher in high school why certain things worked in a certain way -- the laws of physics. He smiled, and said that is the role of religion to answer those questions. Perhaps you can give it a shot, what is the reason why the world of quantum mechanics works the way it does.
semlogo Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Thats kind of what I was going for...While that's a great way to irritate your parents, it's not much of an argument.
Nofear Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Can you make any kind of sense out of the earth having a spirit and the reason it does?If it didn't, our spirit bodies wouldn't have anything to walk on when it leaves our physical body.
Tarski Posted September 29, 2010 Author Posted September 29, 2010 And this is the kind of logic that lead you to atheism. Not very impressive. Well, the short answer is that sometimes things don't always "make sense".Right. So it doesn't make sense. Check.Santa's Reindeer being able to fly also doesn't makes sense either and this is a big clue for most 7 years olds. When something just doesn't make sense, it isn't considered a good thing. It is a clue to say the least.
cdowis Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 When I ask you to make sense of QM, you start babbling on about Santa and his reindeers. Check.
semlogo Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 When I ask you to make sense of QM, you start babbling on about Santa and his reindeers. Check.Actually, this is what he was responding to:"Can you make any kind of sense out of the earth having a spirit and the reason it does?"You said nothing about QM.
