I wouldn't assume this, I suspect that a goodly percentage haven't heard of you at all, not meaning to be insulting or anything, but if they are only superficially interested in the area you've been known for, at best they are likely to have heard only your name and many not even that. I consider myself relatively well educated as far as variety of topics, but I don't have anything beyond a vague impression of your possible position...

So give the board a chance and let those of us less familiar get to know you without too many expectations on either side.....

PS: if you walk into something expecting to be treated badly, it's not surprising if it happens unfortunately.

If you want some enjoyable discussion with people of varied interests, perhaps you might consider metaphorically walking out, shaking off the bad vibes and then coming back in and giving us and yourself another chance without preconceived notions on your side as well as ours, as that's the only way it's going to work.

I've skimmed through this & other threads & really haven't had the time to study these issues in depth so my question here may have already been addressed or might be way off the mark (and I know it's nothing more than speculative), but according to some early accounts the original English translation of the BoA took much longer to read than what we currently have. Isn't it possible that some of these additional bits of "astronomy & priesthood" info was in an earlier copy of the BoA English "translation."

There is one account that says it took two hours to read the BoA in Kirtland, but it is a late and isolated reminiscence with some historical problems in terms of its details. My own research indicates that the BoA wasn't translated past 2:18 until Nauvoo. It could be that what was read for two hours-- assuming such a thing happened-- included EAG material.

Actually, in traditional netiquette, "yelling" doesn't enter in until done in ALL CAPS.

Underlining, bold-face, and italics are generally considered to emphasis and inflection, rather than "yelling".

As to making you "feel welcome", I will simply refer you back to posts 586,599, and 603, in which I tried to make you understand why you are having difficulty here and how a different approach might provide sweeter harvests.

Yes- it was my hope that you'd comprehend the points that I was making, and that for the most part, your woes here are indeed self-inflicted.

In point of fact (and as others will be happy to attest), my responses to you have been "uncharacteristically" mild and temperate- hardly the pattern of attacks about which you complain.

One of the things I mentioned during my presentation is that I have assembled several elements of text critical data that suggest the dominant role of William Phelps in the production of the Alphabet & Grammar materials. I have identified evidence that suggests the primacy of Phelps in both the design of the template itself, as well as the actual selection of the characters that are included in the Alphabet. In other words, there is evidence that suggests that Phelps produced his document first, and the other two documents (Smith and Cowdery) were produced using the Phelps document as their guide. Or that, at least, Phelps was guiding the process as all three documents were produced.

This Phelps primacy is manifest in things both subtle and pronounced, one of the most telling indicators being the fact that his transliterations of the "sounds" assigned to characters in the Alphabet documents (the spellings of the "sounds" often vary greatly between Phelps, Smith, and Cowdery) are almost always the ones employed in the later Grammar document.
