Sincere questions are typically met with ridicule, sarcasm, lecturing and condescension. Kevin rarely visits the boards, which may explain why he's so pleasant to talk to.

Nonsense. Sincere questions are given sincere answers, and there are several respectful and sincere posters with real questions and positive discussion takes place. However, some who come with questions are not sincere and are looking for an excuse to attack or justify their own negative feelings. Usually when someone harps on one thing over and over no matter what the topic is and what response has been given to refute it, it's a sign not of sincerity but agenda.

Thank you Deborah for that clarification. What I meant to say is, sincere questions are typically met with suspicion, followed by ridicule, sarcasm, lecturing and condescension.

Then how does that explain reactions to your questions?

FWIW mathilde, I think you may find it worthwhile to have a chat with Kevin Barney. He's a faithful Latter-day Saint who's very knowledgeable about the Book of Abraham. More importantly, he's well-respected by virtually everyone on both sides of the debate.

Thanks, Mortal Man. I've looked up some of his articles and appreciate your help.

If you are interested in content of the BoA, you might find Traditions About the Early Life of Abraham interesting. It is well worth the price, it's a massive and beautiful book. The other two books of the series are also worthwhile additions to any BoA library:
