Imagine if we applied such logic when it came to a doctor's visit. He tells you your health is perfect, except for that 99% blockage in your heart that he doesn't tell you about. So much for perfect health.

That doesn't even make sense. What has a doctor lying to a patient have to do with an organization established by Jesus Christ that is operated by imperfect people who are trying to do his will?

So, fred, are you perfect?

You really do not understand the scriptures do you? Perfection is not possible without the Atonement of Jesus Christ, which is why he established his church to help the saints become more perfect through believing on him. To be perfect as our Father in Heaven is perfect requires a Redeemer who allows us the opportunity to be resurrected as our Father in Heaven is. The Atonement completes the process of perfection after all we can do. The admonition to be perfect is to accept the Atonement of Christ and to continually strive to be like him.
