e=mc2 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I just received my set of Gardner's astonishing commentary. And I mean, ****WOO - HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!***** However, I noticed a really serious flaw. One of the volumes, 4th Nephi to Moroni is printed as 2nd Nephi to Mosiah! It's a misprint! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is there any corrected volume I can trade this defective one for? I want all his commentary. The other volumes look VERY GOOD. If you don't have them, you are missing out, seriously missing out!
Smith Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 You're causing me to break the Envy commandment! (But having been involved in a little bit of publishing I know how these typo's still manage to get through despite repeated proof reading, it drives one dilly!)
e=mc2 Posted January 3, 2009 Author Posted January 3, 2009 No, I mean the ENTIRE BOOK is misprinted! It's supposed to be 4th Nephi through Moroni, but it repeats the 2nd Nephi book. So I have the second Nephi book twice, and am missing the entire book caled 4th Nephi through Moroni. And that SUCKS! Other than that, this is pure gold to read! BIG UP to you Brant!
e=mc2 Posted January 3, 2009 Author Posted January 3, 2009 Hey I have been reading the Book of Mormon for decades, and I honestly thought I had pretty much taken it's measure for what it had to say and mean. And on the very FIRST page of Brant's first volume in his commentary he taught me something new and very interesting! Wanna see what I mean? I share it in my video commentary on the Book of Mormon. See here:

BIG UP to you Brant!Definitely return it. Something got an incorrect dust cover or (strangely) a title page. I happen to know that the 4th Nephi through Moroni book actually exists--so you should be able to get it.
Jan Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Hey, Kerry, if it's a true misprint (and not just wrong dust cover) it may be worth millions some day!

If you don't have them, you are missing out, seriously missing out!I agree with you. And you waited a whole year to get it????? I have had mine since last Dec and have been able to use it for the entire year in Gospel Doctrine. If you dont have Volume 6 , you also dont have the extensive index to the entire series. Check the title page, if it is the same as your other volume then it is just mixed up dust covers and you need to get it exchanged. if not then you do have a collectors item resulting from a new print run. Mine is from the first print run and has the correct volume 6 with index.Larry P

Brant Gardner Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Next question, is the series available in electronic form, i.e. cdrom?GlennNo. There have been no discussions about that.
ed2276 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Hey Kerry, I hope it slows you down a bit so I can catch up! My goodness! You have so many delish vids on your site I don't know where to begin. I have started with the learning biblical Hebrew vids, listened to some of the podcasts on the trinity, started with Abraham in Egypt, the MesoAmerican stuff, Lehi's journey, and now the first 6 of your BoM commentaries. Each time I start with one thing, something else catches my eye and off I go that way; like a kid in a candy store. I come back today and you are already up in the teens with your Book of Mormon commentary vids.....leaving me in the dust, dude! Now I am off into fair's you tube site, to Blake Ostler's site, and to FARMS....I am just overwhelmed! Where do I go, what do I start and stay with, as a newbie, to really get to understand all this information in so many areas!?But, I have to thank you so much for all that you are doing there on you tube. Man, is it a treasure trove of information and insights!I have to give you a big, WOOO HOOO!
Darth_Bill Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I got my set for my birthday last November. Now I need to go home and make sure that I have the right book. I am only halfway through the first book, as I usually have 3-4 books going at once and 4 kids younger than 8...I tend to get distracted. I do like the books, as it references other texts that I'll probably never get to. I also am happy with the binding. I have made the local library here buy Ostler's books from the same publisher, and the binding was horrible. These books appear to be well constructed. Bro. Gardner, thanks for making this available to us. Some good reading.
