Two Separate Anointing Incidents In The Gospels?

Jesus Christ practiced plural marriage. Heck, there's even Church artwork at my ward and that I saw at an LDS bookstore in Palmyra that secretly teaches this for those who have eyes to see:

Here's a .jpg of it:

...and another one of Jesus with Mary and Martha:

edit: Of course, I think the artist intended the first one to depict Jesus as being sensitive and pure enough to smell roses and hang out with young women rather than as a polygamist, but I guess different people can interpret the same work of art in different ways, Notquitewetyet.

Saemo writes;

Women at that time had no money to spend on anything. Mary Magdalene understood very well who Jesus is, which was not her spouse, but her GOD.

Mark 5:26

And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

This all just goes to show that women are more righteous than men. After all, the population is 50/50 here, yet 3 or 4 to 1 in the celestial kingdom. Must mean a lot more women make it than menâ?¦

LOL! J/K

I have my own reasons to justify polygamy â?? to me there are multiple types of birth.

1. There is the first type of birth in which the children do not get to choose who their parents are (did intelligences get to choose being formed into spirits?)

2. There is the second type of birth in which after gaining light and knowledge you are able to use your experiences to choose your parents â?? ie, baptism, or born again.

3. A third birth following your death in which your spirit is reunited with your body during the resurrection.

Three different required births, perhaps require three different moms? Just speculations of course.

In any event, most people get upset with polygamy because of the intimacy thing â?? Iâ??m not sure how things work beyond the veil, but Adam and Eve were created out of the dust, sounds like a different type of creation process than pregnancy â?? in any event, Eve was cursed that â??in pain you will bring forth childrenâ? so we know the system we have for doing this now is a curse, that there is another way to propagate and form living beings.

Perhaps I should have clarified...the point was that Mary Magdalene spent a years wages. Women had no wages, as they did not work. They ONLY way a woman could earn a wage was prostitution or begging.

So, whoever bought the oil, it wasn't Mary Magdalene. And Jesus never had any possessions. So obviously the oil was supplied by someone else. Perhaps from another follower of Jesus.

To this particular passage. It does not say where the woman who was healed actually received the money she was spending. Either someone was caring for her (husband or other male relative), or she was a beggar.

I know for a fact he owned a pair of sandles, a loin cloth, and a robe. He may have had two sets of clothes. Unless you think he never washed them?

It is also ignorant to think that he was an only child. I guess after you give birth to the messiah, whats the point in more children.

Whatif Joseph was a widower? and had children before getting into his second marriage with Mary?

His great uncle was one of the richest people in the known world... can you guess who?

I dont have to prove the validity of this... I leave it to you to prove it not possable.

What did Jesus teach about the clothing a person wore? Where did he sleep? Where did he stay. What did he own? When did Jesus ever go shopping? Perhaps it is you who needs to meditate on Jesus' words and what He taught in regards to possessions, the rich and those who inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.

I agree he had wealthy benefactors, they are mentioned in the NT. One who bribed the Romans to remove His body for burial in the tomb. But he owned NOTHING.

And perhaps you have forgotten that Mary Magdalene was a prostitute before she gave up herself to be a disciple of Jesus. Such a woman has no inheritance or dowry.

If we are seriously warped, then so are Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, Orson Pratt, Heber Kimball, John Taylor, and any other early Church leader you care to name.

They apparently were attempting to validate the church's practice of polygamy.

ALL SPECULATION. Even the speculation that Mary was a prostitute. The charges against her were dropped. Therefore... No crime. (She was framed, false allegations to entrap Jesus) :P

Prove that it was not possable.

How did he buy these clothes Kreno? And what exactly is your point?

Prove that your argument that Jesus was a adulterer is not possible? You have no argument. Might be. Could be. Had to be because we want it so, so badly.

First you would need to provide something to argue against that wasn't speculation.

This is a quote from the book about the Da Vinci Code that I mentioned in the original post:

The only person who was allowed to anoint with spikenard was a Messianic bride and the only times it was permitted were at the First and Second Marriage ceremonies.

You guys are seriously warped.

I don't think so. While the idea that Jesus Christ was married, or even polygamous isn't "official Church doctrine", that doesn't make it wrong or right. For me, a married Jesus makes way more sense than a celibate one.

In regards to those who believe he was a life long bachelor, I dont consider them warped.

They apparently were attempting to validate the church's practice of polygamy.

That principle and practice needs no additional validation. It stands on it's own two feet.

Jesus may or may not have been married. Personally, I think that if he had been married, there would have been some definite connection made in the scriptures of the woman to Jesus. For instance, Mary of Bethany would have been referred to somewhere as the wife of Jesus--not just the sister of Lazarus and Martha. A real mention, not just verses that could be twisted by creative minds to try to prove that he was. It certainly would have been unusual for a man his age to have not been married, but Jesus was an unusual person. This garbage though about him having been a polygamist is just that though--garbage.

Maybe, but the absense of evidence isnt the evidence of absence.

Yet still held to the same laws and ordinances we are.

Which is what the RLDS/COC said about Joseph. And I don't blame them; Navou plural marriage was done under a veil of secrecy.

For me, I don't care how it is. Jesus is Jesus; His marital status doesn't change who He is or what He did.
