I also believe the Son of God is â??I AMâ?.

Stephen handled this question in Acts 7: 30-38

" And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.

31 When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,

32 Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.

33 Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.

34 I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.

35 This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.

36 He abrought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

Please tell me why Steven refers to the lord as an angel, and says it was an angel who spoke out of the burning bush, and that angel was the lord. Its called divine investiture of authority. Christ spoke as God, because he is the INTERMEDIATOR. He is speaking as God. He is Gods agent.

It was an "angel of the Lord", it was NOT the Lord. An "angel of the Lord" is an angel of his presence, for the Lord's name is in the angel.

You know I think Johnny tells himself this stuff so much he actually believes it? Craziness! He's gonna have a "doh!" moment one of these days.

DUH. your use of similitude makes no sense. Moses represents Christ as the represent of the lord, or the angel of his presence. just as Christ as the chief angel can be called God because he is speaking as the chief angent or angel of the lords presence. From what you are saying moses would have to be God. The symbolism makes no sense. If God/Jesus are the same individual then how do the prophets represent Christ. The analogy breaks down with such non sense.

It makes complete sense if you are familiar with the scripture, scripture reveals.

  • Exod.23 ([20] Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. [21] Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. [22] But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.)
  • -
  • Isa 63 ( [9] In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.)

Every time the scriptures say angel do not mean the same thing. Moses spoke with God (or in the case of your favorite sayings, the Glory of God) on Mount Sinai. God spoke to him from the burning bush, yet stephen clearly references both these instances as angel. So either what kryoung1983 is saying is correct, or you're calling either Moses or Stephen a liar. Take your pick.

What I am saying is consistent with scripture. On the mount God spoke, the glory of the Lord abode upon mount Sinai (Exod 24). In the wilderness of mountain "an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush, the voice of the Lord came unto him (Acts 7).

  • Exod.24 ([15] And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount. [16] And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud. [17] And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.)
