LifeOnaPlate Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Bringing "sanity" into the question, as I believe Vogel has, amounts to little more than deep ethnocentricity on his part. And I don't really view that as a positive thing.
TJane Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 The funny think is if a man has 3 wives and lives in the US, he is looked down upon by society in general. If a man has 3 girlfriends like Hugh Hefner living with him, he is a STUD.Oh, come on now.Everyone knows that "girlfriends" are way hotter and more fun to live with than "wives".Jane, Wife #1 and staying that way.
Dan Vogel Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 A woman, through no fault of her own, is a single mother. She is struggling financially to support three children, and no one to help to raise the children. And I would be "insane" to make her part of my family, is that correct? To deny her and the children the support that they can only get from a caring husband, and father. Is that what you are telling us is the "sane" thing to do.Considering you think you are God's gift to the distressed woman of the world, yes! You have already demonstrated your naivete on this issue and assumed a woman can't get along without a man, IMHO. I think your misplaced charity will be properly checked by seeking your first wife's opinion. Minus the we must live God's-commandment-argument, I think you will lose, IMHO, that is.
Dan Vogel Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Bringing "sanity" into the question, as I believe Vogel has, amounts to little more than deep ethnocentricity on his part. And I don't really view that as a positive thing.I'm not arguing that polygamy is wrong, which would be ethnocentric; I'm arguing that it's a miserable way to live, and anyone who thinks it's fun (which is implied in the OP of this thread) is not dealing with the realities of the system.
