Nothing I know of, but there are plenty of stories about people going to Joseph Smith with stories of angels, only to be told they were not of God. One fellow rode all the way to Salt Lake from miles away to deliver a message to Brigham Young. It was cold and the weather was ice and snow. When Brigham heard that an angel had appeared to this fellow, he told the guy to get back on his horse and to return home. "And," he said, "if that angel comes to you again with a message for me, you tell him to go to hell."

Many non-LDS (especially Catholics) find this story distasteful and non-respectful of the angel's message. Mormons, though, understand it completely. Catholics struggle endlessly over miracles not knowing what to make of them. In a heirarchy, the word of God would come to the Pope, then filter down to the masses. This is the way it's always worked in the LDS church. But popes seem absolutely confounded by them, sometimes reading the given messages over and over.

Since the adoration of Mary is a Catholic innovation, most LDS assume appearances by Mary are Satanic and intended to deceive. Statues crying blood, images appearing on walls; they make no sense to Latter-day Saints.

Goodness knows what she did to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. Those poor deluded folks were really taken in by her obvious hollow attempts at looking after the poor and needy. A demon in disguise perhaps..

William the C, I left the church, amongst other things, because of my inability to balance what I believed a man of God should be like, with Joseph Smith's life, particularly as it pertained to his practice of polygamy, and his taking of other men's wives (whether physical relations were involved or not). It goes against the fundamental commandment that what God had joined together, no man should put assunder. (in my opinion)

When Paul declares that Satan himself appears as an angel of light, I think that he was either using hyperbole, speaking from personal experience, or more likely, is referring to a scriptural incident which would be recognized by his audience and which is not found in the Old Testament as we have it today.

2 Cor. 11:2-3, 14

2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

...

14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

4 Maccabees 18:7-8

7 I was a pure virgin and did not go outside my father's house; but I guarded the rib from which woman was made.

8 No seducer corrupted me on a desert plain, nor did the destroyer, the deceitful serpent, defile the purity of my virginity.

Could these passages possibly be alluding to Eve being literally seduced by the serpent ("nachash") shining ("nechash") as an angel of light? Could the good seed and tares in Matt. 13:38-39 be literal as well as through adoption?

In order to more fully understand the role 'satan/lucifer' plays, it would be wise to consider why the use of 'doublet stories' is so important to illustrate a singular reality and Truth as it pertains to 'salvation' and 'exaltation'. The following article does a very good job of presenting the reality of 'Christos-Lucifer' within a singular framework -- and one should consider, again, that by 'splitting' the 'brothers' and creating a doublet 'story', we are not simply talking about two brothers in a strictly literal sense, but one principle of a 'light bringer' that manifests through dual polarities in order to 'teach', 'test', and 'transform' the one travelling the path of becoming - being - remembering one's true Self. Although this is not specifically taught as part of LDS doctrine and/or teachings -- it should be remembered that some things simply cannot be presented - even if there is an implicit understanding that these truths are veiled within the outer garments.
