Hans Mueller Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 New Orleans Saints? Are we talking about football? As for "only One True Church" yes, there is, it is known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints restored to the earth by Jesus Christ through the Prophet Joseph Smith. And The Book of Mormon is more of God's word.Ah man, you are totally wrong. There is only One True Church, and it was not made from the BS dreams of an American crackpot. I really feel sorry for you. The Catholic Church was founded by St. Peter and this guy named Jesus Christ. The thing you call a Church of Latter Day New Orleans Saints institution is a cult, and has nothing whatsoever to do with Christianity. You are all heretics and liars. Joseph Smith is nothing more than a creative writer. You Mormons have no notion of what real prophets are. Let's have that discussion if you want. There is no difference between your Utah audience and the people who buy into Tony Robbins and Jerry Springer. I really pray for the salvation of your strayed souls.
Doctor Steuss Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 [...]The Catholic Church was founded by St. Peter and this guy named Jesus Christ.[...]Which Catholic Church?
Hans Mueller Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 I enjoy Jonah... especially his unfulfilled prophecy.G-d did the threatening, not I.And?Jonah's unfulfilled prophecy? YOU DONT GET IT That was the point - most of you Mormons here are Morons and dont know how to read the Bible

Give us something with some substance. The name calling doesn't count.Come on, name three differences between the LDS and Catholic church....if you can.Jonah's unfulfilled prophecy? YOU DONT GET IT That was the point - most of you Mormons here are Morons and dont know how to read the BibleAnd you haven't given us a straight answer.I begin to think you honestly don't know.
Hans Mueller Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Substance, Hans. Give us something with some substance. The name calling doesn't count.Come on, name three differences between the LDS and Catholic church....if you can.And you haven't given us a straight answer.I begin to think you honestly don't know.OK substance: namely the engraved plates and third book to the Bible. That doesn't make you "more" Christian" that makes you more of a cult
selek Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 OK substance: namely the engraved plates and third book to the Bible. That doesn't make you "more" Christian" that makes you more of a cultActually, the Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, and Doctrine and Covenants are comprised of many "books" in the Biblical sense. Three additional volumes.Nonetheless, why does additional revelation make us un-Christian?
Hans Mueller Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Why?B/C mainly Smith was interested in growing a community and not so interested in any kind of personal relationshipt to Christ - are there any Book scholars in Mormonism? Read your Old and New Testament; there is nothing consistent with Smith's crackpot engravings with the original inspired documets. Sorry. Cult?
Doctor Steuss Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Jonah's unfulfilled prophecy?Yes, the one regarding Nineveh's destruction which was mitigated by the repentance of the city's population. The prophecy that Jonah got upset over its non-fulfillment... ring any bells? YOU DONT GET IT That was the point - most of you Mormons here are Morons and dont know how to read the BibleMy knowledge of the book of Jonah (after you tell me that I should read it) equates to most Mormons being morons? You're right... I don't get it. Perhaps theyâ??re teaching a new form of logic in schools these days.

Read your Old and New Testament; there is nothing consistent with Smith's crackpot engravings with the original inspired documets. Sorry. Cult?Actually- Joseph Smith was very interested in a personal relationship with Christ. That was the catalyst which led to the First Vision. The Old and New Testaments are in harmony with the Book of Mormon. If they are not, could you please provide us some examples of the contradictions? You haven't shown us anything, but merely asserted it. Sorry, but still nothing substantive.Nonetheless, you haven't answered the question:Why does additional revelation make us un-Christian?
Doctor Steuss Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 [...] Cult?Yes. Just as the early Church was.CultMaster 2000 Software (Click Here to purchase)

selek Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Maybe if you've never read a science textbook then you could appreciate the so-called "mystery" or serial fabrication produced by the so-called liar, I mean, prophet, Joseph Smith.....I've read many scientific textbooks and I still appreciate the works of the Prophet Joseph Smith. Are you planning on answering my question or are you just going to call names?1) Name three differences between the LDS and Catholic Churches.2) Why does additional revelation make LDS un-Christian?You haven't answered, you just keep calling names. Could it be that for all your hatred, you are -at the very end- ignorant of what you speak?
selek Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 You called the Book of Mormon a serial fabrication.Could you tell us anything about how it was actually produced? Could you tell us how the Church claims it was produced?

But your main assumption is that body of cultish heretics received some kind of revelation. Before I dignify your so-called revelations, why don't you elaborate them further? And to the dude who called me a barking chihuhua before, I say this: stop snapping at my heels
selek Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Dude, good questions. But your main assumption is that body of cultish heretics received some kind of revelation. Before I dignify your so-called revelations, why don't you elaborate them further? And to the dude who called me a barking chihuhua before, I say this: stop snapping at my heelsNo.....I've asked my questions at least four times now. You answer mine (since I asked first) and then I'll answer yours. At least four times I've asked and you haven't answered a singe one. Why not?Your unwillingness to answer basic questions about the topic at hand makes it appear that you really don't know anything about us. Making these kinds of accusations against people, when you don't know anything about them is called "bearing false witness".Christ kinda frowned on that- it's in the Bible. Also, for all that you keep calling names, you haven't yet established WHY the LDS are "cultish heretics".The moderators (and God) are already watching you, Hans. You're behavior will very likely get you banned (and damned) in short order.Try to answer the questions so they can both give you a little more rope, okay?
Hans Mueller Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 You called the Book of Mormon a serial fabrication.Could you tell us anything about how it was actually produced? Could you tell us how the Church claims it was produced?Three differences: 1) Communication with ghosts2) College basketball3) Transubstantiation
selek Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Three differences: 1) Communication with ghosts The LDS do not beleive in communication with ghosts. That was actually King Saul and the Witch of Endor.2) College basketball Notre Dame doesn't play basketball?3) TransubstantiationTransubstantiation in what context? Most churches today (including Eastern and Greek Orthodox), and a great many Catholics don't beleive that the Eucharist literally becomes Christ's flesh and blood. Those tokens are symbolic.None of these three establishes heresy. Sorry.
Skylla Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 Just wanted to mention that there is only One True Church, and it has nothing to do with Joseph Smith, professional charlatan, or with his false book; All Mormons ought to be prepared for the fury of voluntarily being misledGood day to you sirs and mesdames, and I pray for youAlthoough yee among thou might pride yer'selves on being persecuted, o ye Protestant fabricators of extra Bible books and latter Day New Orleans Saints, why dontcha Listen to your hearts and obey Christ's Word on Earth, to the One True Church. My bad for watching PBS Frontline special on the Mor(m)ons, b/c now your fantasy life is going up in flame wars. Be prepared, fabricators of the Word. You are banned.Skylla
selek Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 The coda, of course, to Hans' tirade was ignorance and bigotry. He knew nothing about the Church except how to call names. He couldn't give a single substantive answer to any of the questions raised.
hcac Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 how is the trinity more pagan than having more than one god. people saying that emperor constantine made the doctrine, even though he was baptised by an ARIAN bishop not a catholic bishop or priest.p.s. for those dont know what the arian heresy was, google it
bluebell Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 how is the trinity more pagan than having more than one god. people saying that emperor constantine made the doctrine, even though he was baptised by an ARIAN bishop not a catholic bishop or priest.p.s. for those dont know what the arian heresy was, google ithello hcac-I'm a bit confused about what you are trying to say in this post.I believe that the concept of the trinity as taught in the nicene creed is sometimes described as 'pagan' because so many of it's components seem to have been taken directly from greek philosophies popular in different pagan religions at the time.In other words, it seems to some people that without the influence of such greek paganism the nicene creed would be much different than it is today, and hence mainstream Christianity (those who accept the concept of the Trinity as taught by the creed) would be much different as well. And yes, the concept of multiple gods can also be traced to pagan roots-but i'm not aware of any pagan religion that taught the LDS concept of the Godhead or the LDS concept of exaltation-so i don't see the correlation between LDS beliefs and pagan religious beliefs that you seem to be attempting to make here.Perhaps you could clarify the point you were trying to make.
ION MIC Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 Well the Catholics know alot about Mary, and if not them, then the early church fathers. Nonetheless, i still dont see how the Mother of God is not as honored as Joseph Smith. Yes I understand the importance of him in your theology, but Mary was essential as well in giving birth to the Savior, being the Woman who raised him and being his first disciple. If she was the mother of God she must have been eternally old by the time she had to give birth to Jesus. To me Mary was the mother of Jesus. Obviously a very devout and faithful Jewish woman and a mother to future god much like my own wife and my mother.
