Daniel Peterson Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 HiTo say that apologists do not get paid is the whole truth for most of them, and mostly true for all of them.ClassicMeaning what, exactly?Do you mean to say that Mormon "apologists" actually do get paid, after all?
Zakuska Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Well... ALL Christian apologists get paid. They do have ministries which take in large amounts of $ and use it to diseminate lies against their perceived enemies and live high on the hog. Just ask "Dr." Martin and the Hankster.PS My next contribution to the thread...Mormon = "Gates of Hell" in Chinese.
Zakuska Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Heres some more...1) Giant Yellow Reptiles live in the Sewers of Down Town Salt Lake and have access to the temple so they can keep things under control.2) A young maiden escaped polygamy by leaping from the windows of the SLC temple into the Great Salt Lake and swimming away.
Scott Lloyd Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 --a check with a note of "take your wife out to dinner on us" is a nice thank you gift, imo.$50 - for what? A nice romantic dinner at Chili's?Bottom line is that it's pittance - nothing - akin to not getting paid at all, which is the point some have not been getting on this thread. To some career anti-Mormons who don't have real jobs, maybe $150 seems like a lot of money.

Pahoran Posted June 28, 2006 Author Posted June 28, 2006 Okay CG, let's apply your dictum to a case you and I are both familiar with.A while back, you claimed that LDS missionaries in Japan only serve in the western part of the country, where most of the Christians live.
Who Knows Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Congratulations. You've taken some of the lamest/weakest uninformed anti-mo arguments, and demonstrated the lameness/weakness of them.Anti-mos/critics everywhere will, i'm sure, start to see the error of their ways.edit - my post refers to Pahoran's orignial post, not the one immediately above mine.

Why start now? They've been plugging along in error merrily for some time now!Course, I ain't a REAL Mormon missionary cause I don't have a cloven hoof.(That and the age/family/joined the Church too late thing. )

And I made a lot of money doing it, too!Life is good.

Don't hold your breath.Daniel Peterson once wrote of his and Bill Hamblin's experience responding to critics' arguments as "Bill and Dan's Excellent Adventure in Anti-Mormon Zombie Hell." Meaning of course that the lame anti-Mormon arguments refuse to lie down, despite having been shot full of holes.

I doubt you'll see any of the informed critics bring up any of these arguments.

However, I do not share your optimism; I suspect that most--and in fact I know that some--will simply persist with these bits of nonsense. They'll get repeated again next week, next month, next year and again ten years from now. And the logically challenged among them will say, "the responses must be weak, or these arguments would have gone away by now! Therefore, these arguments must be valid!"I didn't choose these because they are lame. In the last analysis, all anti-Mormon arguments are lame. I chose them because they remain popular.Regards,Pahoran
Who Knows Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 In the last analysis, all anti-Mormon arguments are lame. What are you referring to?

You're right Pahoran...There is NO LEGITIMATE reason to question ANYTHING the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints says, has said, does or has done because it is perfect. All who question the church are just led by satan and/or are idiots.Right?

Daniel Peterson Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Feminism covers a vary wide spectrum of attitudes and beliefs. There are, in fact, several quite distinct strands of feminism. The Church objects to some and doesn't object to others.

Markk Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Hi Dan,Dan wrote...To say that apologists do not get paid is the whole truth for most of them, and mostly true for all of them.Meaning what, exactly?Do you mean to say that Mormon "apologists" actually do get paid, after all? Your not even close, I mean classic in that it sounds like Billy Crystal in the Princess Bride, "he's only mostly dead"?First of all most Christians apologists don't make a dime either, while many do, but for the most part they are people who hand out the tracks, give classes, and just witness to those they feel led to.If you make money Dan, great, more power to you, if that is your passion, and you are sincere, then you should make some money for your time and effort. Plus there is the indirect profits? I'm sure that FARMS has opened many doors for you that would not have been opened before, if it hasn't it should, have you ever been paid to speak? If not you should, you have paid your dues and worked hard for what you believe, you deserve it, and if it is what a person does for a living and what they support their families with, that's OK to, it's a honor to support someone who is passionate in something you also believe in.There are a lot more subjects that are true, that the LDS church will not address, besides these few questions, that I would tend to focus on. So, to tell you the truth I could care less about the points on this thread, most are subjective anyway or can't be discussed in full for obvious reasons. At any rate it's safe to say that it is "mostly true you don't make any money for your hard work."MarkJohn 1:12
