Pyreaux Posted March 24, 2025 Posted March 24, 2025 (edited) Once or twice, I've talked about how I daydream about what I called "Idaho Jack", as a sort of a "What-If" an Indiana Jones-like person named Jack Young, a modern BYU-Idaho professor and archeologist, who finds LDS relics, but he has those who conspire against him. In the last few months, I've been outlining an entire trilogy. Its showcasing multiple locations and featuring unique sights, writing fight/chase scenes on the La Bestia Train in Mexico, a Red Bus in Guatemala and a Yellow Fire Truck in Hawaii. It's difficult to do while avoiding deaths or minimizing property damage. And I made traps themed after The Book of Mormon. Like old Indy, ultimately, Jack finds but never recovers the relic nor changes the world. ----- Where is the Liahona? I am getting mixed messages on the location of the Liahona. So far, I have it in Zarahemla as that is where the Liahona was when it stopped working (Don Bradly), which I put in a stone box in a submerged ruin in Santa Rosa, Mexico (Dr. Sorenson). However, was it in the New York hill? I'm led to understand is it was never in the New York's stone box, rather Moroni brought it and the Sword of Laban to show the three witnesses, and Moroni returned them from wherever he got them. Joseph Smith–History verse 52 “Having removed the earth, I obtained a lever, which I got fixed under the edge of the stone, and with a little exertion raised it up. I looked in, and there indeed did I behold the plates, the Urim and Thummim, and the breastplate, as stated by the messenger. The box in which they lay was formed by laying stones together in some kind of cement. In the bottom of the box were laid two stones crossways of the box, and on these stones lay the plates and the other things with them.” The extra items were displayed by Moroni in Doctrine and Covenants 17:1 David Whitmer in The Sabbath Herald, 1 March 1882, page 68: "We went out into the woods, near by, and sat down on a log and talked awhile. We then kneeled down and prayed. Joseph prayed. We then got up and sat on the log and were talking, when all at once a light came down from above us and encircled us for quite a little distance around; and the angel stood before us." Moroni, "A table was set before us and on it the records were placed. The Records of the Nephites, from which the Book of Mormon was translated, the brass plates, the Ball or Directors, the sword of Laban and other plates.” A voice said, “These plates have been revealed by the power of God, and they have been translated by the power of God. The translation of them which you have seen is correct, and I command you to bear record of what you now see and hear.” The Brass Plates and Other Plates I'd think were left at the Hill Cumorah, not in the stone box shown to Joseph. Was the sword of Laban and the Liahona were at Cumorah too or elsewhere, I'm not sure. Where do you think the Liahona is? I say Mexico. Was it in New York hill or not? Any other sources? ------- Also, check in, I may have further questions, like opinions about having an ex-Mormon ex-student, a Smithsonian representative and a black marketeer and hired henchmen as main villains, how Jack can justify removing an object considered "cultural heritage" to keep it out of the hands of Cartel and their corrupt governmental partners, and the many creative liberates I taken to put objects where I want them to be found. You are all my trusted community who are more responsible and morally upright than I and I hope you'll identify any glaring mistakes. Or if the whole thing is terrible.
