Elder Holland and the Book

I have no intent to restart the debate, but I came across some very interesting info dating back to the original date of the original attack on Elder Holland by the original accuser, Danna, and thought it important enough to share...if only to remind us of past wonders.

She had an extended conversation with lifeonaplate, Blair Hodges (who had written a blog on the claim, which unfortunately does not exist anymore at the link).

There may have been another thread as she mentioned posting it elsewhere, so some info may be missing.  It started here:

The crucial info though is that Blair had a conversation with both a Church historian and one of the donators of the book.  I haven't finish reading the thread so I may find better info to reconstruct the info he shared on the thread, but I am posting now because I might get interrupted.

As to point (1), the TBMs have clearly won, because we all know this is a big battle rather than an attempt to get the best view of the situation. The best we've been able to come up with a more reasonable (and charitable) reading of Elder Holland's "last hour" statement. Only one wishing to push a metaphor into literalness to make a man an offender for a word would struggle accepting this, IMO. It's clear that he was not twisting the truth in order to score an emotional point.

As to point (2), we have a tip from an anonymous informant who explained that they believe their copy was read at the same time Hyrum read from the copy Holland held in his address. We also have a statement from a Church archivist through Robin Jensen that the Church News "got it wrong," and was incorrect about the book in the 2007 story. Again, what is the more likely book, the one owned by Hyrum's son or the one owned by Hyrum's cousin's wife? I'm going with the former.

Towards the end of the conversation either there is a glitch for me or Danna deleted her responses to her posts, but you can reconstruct them through their quotes in responses to them.

Anonymous, thank you for visiting and adding your thoughts. You present a plausible scenario. Do you have any family history records that describe the meeting other than the oral recollections? I can certainly imagine them all reading their Book of Mormon copies together and turning down the pages, that makes good sense. 

Now, I wonder how John Taylor knew about the gathering, whether he was there, and where he got his information from for D&C 135 where he describes Hyrum reading and so forth.
