This was text not found on earlier manuscripts, and is believed by many to have been added fraudulently in order to bolster the case for the Nicene trinity. The interesting part of this is that some say that the oldest manuscripts that DON'T contain this because the early church fathers took it out of those manuscripts because they didn't agree with it -- which kind of makes one wonder how it got back in, but nevermind -- and others say that it was added by heretics later. As for your problem with the BoM passage above, are you really of the opinion that the printer somehow made absolutely no mistakes in transcribing the book from the printer's manuscript to the press? Even the Bible has had problems with the text over the centuries when printers got parts wrong and the text had to be corrected in later editions. You seem to be sure that the BoM must conform to some kind of inerrancy theory, so that it came pristine and perfect from the printer. In fact it had mistakes, which rather justifies the Title Page statement: "if there be faults, they are the faults of men."
