JAHS Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 I have compiled some statistics on missionary deaths for the last almost 30 years. The numbers represent deaths that were searchable on the internet so the list is not complete, but nevertheless probably representative of the historical data. By far car accidents are the most common cause of deaths. Car accidents - Represent missionaries that were riding in cars. In most cases the missionaries were not at fault. Shot/Murdered - Missionaries that were hit by stray bullets or murdered by gun or stabbed with a knife. Hit by car or train while walking or on bike - Walking or riding a bike along a road and hit by a car. Disease/medical condition - Heart attacks, E. coli or other infections, Pneumonia, other medical conditions. Other accident - Falls, fire, drownings. Collapsed while exercising - Suddenly collapsed while jogging or playing sports Gas poisoning - Carbon monoxide or natural gas while sleeping Electrocuted - Accidentally touching live electrical wire
