Despise not the revelations of God

Been reading Jacob this week. This passage has stood our. Especially considering our discussions on Revelation:

Quote

 

Wherefore, we search the prophets, and we have many revelations and the spirit of prophecy; and having all these witnesses we obtain a hope, and our faith becometh unshaken, insomuch that we truly can command in thename of Jesus and the very trees obey us, or the mountains, or the waves of the sea.

Nevertheless, the Lord God showeth us our weakness that we may know that it is by his grace, and his great condescensions unto the children of men, that we have power to do these things.

Behold, great and marvelous are the works of the Lord. How unsearchable are the depths of the mysteries of him; and it is impossible that man should find out all his ways. And no man knoweth of his ways save it be revealed unto him; wherefore, brethren, despise not the revelations of God. (Jacob 4:6-8)

 

 

I think Jacob is giving us a formula.

1) We search the prophets - study the scriptures and the teachings of the modern prophets

2) we have many revelations and the spirit of prophecy - we obtain a testimony and the Lord reveals us truths personally.

If we do this we:

A) Obtain hope

B) Unshaken faith

C) A knowledge of our weaknesses

We cannot know God unless He reveals Himself to us. And it looks like the words of the prophets are necessary to obtain that Revelation. So is our diligence in seeking. And unshakeable faith and hope is obtained after we do this
