Kenngo1969 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) Sorry, but I'm not going to wade through two hours of anything from this guy. Doctrine and Covenants 89 and Acts 10:9-15 are enough for me, thanks! Edited July 7, 2015 by Kenngo1969 3

Zakuska Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) Sorry. Not very convincing. "eating unclean/strangled animals" (nice conflation) clean animals could just as easily be strangled or sacrificed to Idols, So the sin here isn't eating an unclean animal (Because the Lords blood had cleansed ALL uncleanliness both in heaven and earth) its eating something sacrificed to Idols. Paul speaks about this in one of his letters, and explains the reason for not eating things sacrificed to idols (1 Cor. 8-11) and its not because its unclean. He says in Romans 14:14 Paraphrase: "I am convinced there is NOTHING unclean of itself"... why? because the Lords blood had cleansed ALL uncleaness. So quit calling what the Lord hath cleansed "Unclean". Edited July 7, 2015 by Zakuska
BookofMormonLuvr Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 We'll just to have to agree to disagree. I believe that they don't specify "unclean" animals because to them it wasn't food and they didn't imagine they would have to be that specific.BTW, the Dietary Law go way beyond "cleanness" or sanitary reasons. but is about environmental balance and purpose of creation- a post I made on FB recently: I have come to the realization that he Dietary Laws are not about health and safety at all, they are about purpose of creation and balance.Think about it.. what categories to prohibited animals fall into...Prey (Falcons, eagles, lions, tigers, bear (oh my))Scavengers (Crows, Vultures, etc...)Cleaners (catfish, shellfish, pigs, etc...)Burden bearing and "useful" animals (camels, horses, lamas, etc...)If we remove these animals through consumption, the land, and sea, become polluted, and out of balance. (overpopulation of vermin as an example) and the animals we control and use cannot fullfill the whole purpose they are here... to assist man.
Zakuska Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) Riddle me this... What was Nephi Hunting with his bow and Arrow? Cattle, Venison, Wild boar, Mt. Goat, antelope? Edited July 7, 2015 by Zakuska
BookofMormonLuvr Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 Riddle me this... What was Nephi Hunting with his bow and Arrow? Cattle, Venison, Wild boar, Mt. Goat, antelope? I guess they have gazelles in the Arabian Peninsula- probably something like that.
ERayR Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Riddle me this... What was Nephi Hunting with his bow and Arrow? Cattle, Venison, Wild boar, Mt. Goat, antelope? Anything he could find to feed the family. The kids were hungry and that is not a pretty sight to a loving father.

ERayR Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I believe the LORD rewards obedience, especially when in the most difficult of circumstances. Never had to watch your kids starving have you?
Zakuska Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) I think Paul ends the debate with this... 1 Timothy 4:3-4 “...commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good [clean] and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving.“ No "unclean" animals for Paul and Timothy. More Food for thought: Matthew 15:11 “Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.” -- Jesus Romans 14:14 “there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.” -- Paul Edited July 7, 2015 by Zakuska
BookofMormonLuvr Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 Never had to watch your kids starving have you? No.What does that have to do with anything?
BookofMormonLuvr Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 I believe all your objections to the Dietary Law have been answered sufficiently by Staley, 119 Ministries and others.
Zakuska Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) No need for Staley or 119 Ministries to explain anything when as Paul said 1 Timothy 4:3-4 “...commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good [clean] and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving.“ Flat out ALL creatures are clean and can be eaten. Peter and the Lord agreed. Acts 10:15. 'What God has made clean, do not call common.' I know the truth and the truth makes me whole and sets me free. You can continue to call pork (Against the Lords own word) unclean. But I know better. Thank you Lord Jesus. mmmmm.... bacon..... nom-nom-nom-nom Edited July 7, 2015 by Zakuska

Zakuska Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) Nothing hard to be understood in Pauls letter to Timothy. "every creature of God is good" See Paul understood Peters Table cloth dream and that it had a temporal and a spiritual meaning. The temporal meaning being actually eating unclean animals. Which were now clean being washed in the blood of the lamb. The Lord further explained to him the spiritual mearing. That the parts of the law that said Jews couldn't even approach or eat with a Gentile or be judged unclean where over. Thus Pauls reaction to Peter when he was sitting at dinner with the Gentiles but when other Jews came he withdrew himself as to not be accused of being unclean. Sorry... Staleys exegesis has been weighed in the balances and been found wanting. Edited July 7, 2015 by Zakuska

Zakuska Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) Pres. Obama will be the first in line to your Grand opening. It had taken me less than six months to learn Indonesia’s language, its customs, and its legends. I had survived chicken pox, measles and the sting of my teachers’ bamboo switches. The children of farmers, servants and low-level bureaucrats had become my best friends, and together we ran the streets morning and night, hustling odd jobs, catching crickets, battling swift kites with razor-sharp lines -- the loser watched his kite soar off with the wind, and knew that somewhere other children had formed a long, wobbly train, their heads toward the sky, waiting for their prize to land. With Lolo, I learned how to eat small green chili peppers raw with dinner (plenty of rice), and, away from the dinner table, I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher), and roasted grasshopper (crunchy). Like many Indonesians, Lolo followed a brand of Islam that could make room for the more ancient animist and Hindu faiths. He explained that a man took on the powers of whatever he ate: One day soon, he promised, he would bring home a piece of tiger meat for us to share. That’s how things were, one long adventure, the bounty of a young boy’s life. ... -- Barak Obama Edited July 7, 2015 by Zakuska 1
