Here Comes The Next Issue

As I noted in a previous thread, the next issue we will face is transgender.

Already in place in the Church are some strict policies regarding operations that alter

male/female appearance including restrictions on priesthood ordination and temple

recommends.

Labor Department Secretary Tom Perez has taken the occasion of the final day of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month, as proclaimed by President Obama, to clarify that his department provides the "full protection of the federal non-discrimination laws that we enforce to transgender individuals." Perez cites a U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) ruling in 2012 that found that the protections secured under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 apply to transgender individuals. Perez continues [emphasis added]:

The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs and Civil Rights Center, along with the Employment and Training Administration, will issue guidance to make clear that
discrimination on the basis of transgender status is discrimination based on sex.
While the department has long protected employees from sex-based discrimination, its guidance to workers and employers will explicitly clarify that this includes workers who identify as transgender. The department will continue to examine its programs to identify additional opportunities to extend the law’s full protection against discrimination to transgender workers.

Since corporations are now people with religious freedom. We just have to await the USSC to determine what deeply held religious belief of that corporation is deserving of protection.

A corporation is considered a person, because it is made up of people who share a common interest.  This is one of our basic Constitutional rights, the right of free association.  If a group of people choose to vote together, or use their money for political means together, then they are each acting as a person, with the corporation acting as voice for the whole.

I have no problem with transgender seeking freedoms.  That said, it should be done on the local/state level, and not the federal.  The voice of the people must be allowed to be heard. However, on the federal level there are always losers and winners.  If I do not like how a locality is deciding their laws, then I am free to move elsewhere, to a place where they agree more with me. However, when the Feds step in, there is no place else to go, no recourse.  Only the wealthy can afford to move overseas and resign their American citzenship.
