frank_jessop Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I am trying to understand the content of the Fairmormon entry on the date of the Birth of Christ. The entry is divided into several sections. One section is titled "The Church does not take an official position on this issue" This section, has nothing to do with the question of the Date of Christs birth. This section contains quotes regarding who in the Church has the right to receive revelation for the Church. So what I am trying to understand is why is "The Church does not take an official position on this issue" in the entry, when it provides zero support that "The Church does not take an official position on this issue".
Calm Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I was not involved in developing the wiki, so guessing here it may be a standard addition to any topic that requires a statement as to whether or not the Church has an official position on something (where there are those making that claim contrary to fact). If you are really curious, you need to write FM and see if you can get the attention of the person who did that section as the vast majority of FM members do not read this board and there is a good chance the writer won't see this thread.

However, the section title "The Church does not take an official position on this issue" is not about the birth of Christ; the inclusion of the statements in the section are, at best, misleading.
Calm Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Feel free to write FM with the suggestion to change it.
