Bob Crockett Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) The LGT is criticized mainly by apostates, who like to poke its adherents in the ribs with the stick of prior statements by the Brethren. The Tanners devote some space to this. The LGT is criticized as well by Meldrumites or "nativists," those who think that the United States of American is the "promised land" and its constitution God-breathed. The LGT is criticized by hemispherists. I don't see much of their argument. The LGT is criticized by members of the church who think that the LGT is without foundation and contrary to the guidance of the Brethren to avoid such discussion and proofs. This group doesn't have much of a voice. Edited February 27, 2014 by Bob Crockett
knowone Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 (edited) i dont ascribe to the ny hill cumorah theory. one must remember that many prophets have been taken up in vision & magically transported to many places. i speak specifically of enoch, elijah, isaiah & islam's muhammed. the prophet joseph smith was probably taken up in a translation-type vision & carried to another dimension where he was given the plates & then placed back in new york in our reality. with the discovery of the first higgs boson particle, this opens the door for multiple dimensions, string theory, etc, etc. as lds members we also know the spirit world is right here on earth. that would mean multiple dimensions. hence both science & lds theology agree on there being multiple dimensions. i would think the hill cumorah is in south america. especially if one researches the tayos cave in ecuador.
