Wasn't it the angel Gabriel who appeared to Zacharias, and isn't Gabriel Noah? Are Noah and Elias the same person? And Did Noah, or Elias have anything to do with the restoration?

The JST also says in verse 11 that "Elias has come already, concerning whom it is written, Behold I will send my messenger and he shall prepare the way before me". This would refer to John the Baptist who prepared the way for the Savior.or2. Elias is the Greek form of Elijah and in verse 10 it could also refer to the prophet Elijah, who restored the full keys of the priesthood in 1836 (D&C 110:13-16) P.S. And Did Noah, or Elias have anything to do with the restoration? Yes, Gabriel appeared to Zacharias and is Noah. So Noah was also Elias, in this case also the Elias of D&C 110: 12 who restored the gospel of Abraham. This Elias was Noah, not John the Baptist as is occasionally claimed. The important thing to remember is that Elias can be a proper name when referring to Elijah, but it can also be a title for any "forerunner" who prepares the way for the Lord, as in John the Baptist and Noah. danieldemol Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Interesting question, although in the time of Jesus, John the Baptist restored "all things" by publicly preaching, which to me appears different in practice to anointing someone in secrecy.
