Stone holm Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I believe tonight I had an epiphany as to the most utilitarian of American phrases. I came to realize it when during a conversation triggered by an Institute assignment that she was working on we both used it within the space of about five minutes. It is one of those quirks of American verbal survival that we inherit from our kids if we have survived raising numerous teenagers and now are relishing the prospect of our own children running the gauntlet we call dealing with teenagers. The phrase is a very simple one in which the inflection needs to be a little heavy handed, it is: "Yeah, whatever!." What a wonderfully useful phrase.
