Sky Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 (edited) Lately I've become fascinated with the use and symbolism of Olive oil, particularly as it relates to the anointing of the head of the sick and afflicted for special Priesthood blessings. Also, its use in the washing and anointing ordinances of the temples. Olive Oil holds special significance in other religions too, such as Judaism and Catholicism. Jacob chapter 5 in the Book of Mormon talks about in in length. I've also heard that it somehow relates to the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I'm just learning more and more about the symbolism of this, and I don't totally understand it yet, so anybody that can shed more light on the subject it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Margaret Barker has a ton of good stuff on how the Vision of the Tree of Life is poured out in the Olive Oil representing the Holy Spirit of Wisdom which was part of Christ's chrism/Anointing. 1
