Bob Oliverio Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/09/25/reid-romney-not-face-mormonism/Unbelievable! Harry is only destroying his own Mormon image - if he ever really had one. This is a guy who needs to be pulled aside by the bishopric this Sunday! 2
Saints Alive Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I hate to speculate but its a wonder he hasn't yet.

Harry is only destroying his own Mormon image - if he ever really had one. This is a guy who needs to be pulled aside by the bishopric this Sunday!Guess what, Romney does not even come close to representing the outlook of a great many believing members. Perhaps you are a little myopic in your little American-Republican world. Edited September 25, 2012 by volgadon 5
Saints Alive Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Guess what, Romney does not even come close to representing the outlook of a great many believing members.Thats a given but if I had to pick one of the two men to represent mormonism I don't think it would be Reid. 1
volgadon Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Thats a given but if I had to pick one of the two men to represent mormonism I don't think it would be Reid.To be frank, I don't think it should be Romney either. All this is besides the point. "Bob" seems to think we should harness our faith to his favourite political cart. He is right, someone needs a PPI, but I'm not sure it is Reid.
Popular Post Deborah Posted September 25, 2012 Popular Post Posted September 25, 2012 Volgadon presents the very interesting point that the church is a worldwide church with very differing political leanings and experiences. This is the reason the church cannot make statements supporting one political party or another (aside from the repercussions from our tax exempt status). We in the USA are used to our freedoms and what we see as a usurpation of these others may see as catching up to the rest of the world. We may disagree with this view but we have to remember this is a worldwide church and God is after all in charge. 5
Saints Alive Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Mormonism is definitely diverse globally but in the US I believe polls have clearly indicated that LDS are overwhelmingly republican. 2
sdc999 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Many noble men have gone to Washington but few have ever returned.Maybe both should be talking to a bishop, but then again, they are both acting in a normal expected way........ for politics.

KevinG Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 What Harry Reid said would get him suspended from this thread for questioning someones worthiness because of their political beliefs or personal opinions. I find that funny and tragic at the same time. 3
mapman Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 If Harry Reid should get a PPI for saying Mitt Romney is a bad Mormon, shouldn't people who accuse Harry Reid of being a bad Mormon be interviewed as well? 2

Saints Alive Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Why President Uchtdorf?Pres. Monson was busy.
Kenngo1969 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Brother Bob,You seem to have developed this annoying habit of late of coming here, tossing bombs (the more hyperbolic the better, it seems), then abandoning the thread. You must not care about being taken seriously. It won't be long before you come here with a putatively-serious issue ("C'mon guys! I'm really serious about this one!") and will be treated as though you are The Boy Who Cried Wolf.Because, more and more, it seems, that's exactly what you are. 3
KevinG Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 (edited) I think you might be on to something although I think those who question Reid's mormonism have more of a leg to stand on.Careful lest you be guilty of the same sin you are accusing Brother Reid of.I myself would not vote for Brother Reid in any imaginable scenario. At the same time if I were asked to assist him in blessing the sacrament or attending the Temple I would be honored to do so. We don't "out" brothers and sisters based on their lack of political judgement or tact. If that were the case we would have had to excommunicate about half the church in the US on any given election year. Edited September 25, 2012 by KevinG 1

He does this on purpose to set the fundamentalists on both sides against each other. Sadly it seems to work pretty well.
mapman Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I think you might be on to something although I think those who question Reid's mormonism have more of a leg to stand on.They both advocate positions that are against the church's position, accuse people of being bad human beings, and lie. 1
