DBMormon Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 If one plays SIMS or other virtual world games and plays in virtual reality (not against computer controlled avatars but real people playing as the other avatars), and also has a wife in this virtual reality; would that be considered breaking the laws of the church if one is married in the real world as well, could this person be brought up on charges of polygamy or adultery? do we see it going this far as technology advances and this virtual world becomes more and more realistic. Could one be virtually sealed to this person. What if a female is married in virtual reality, would that be polyandry? Sitting at work and was reading a post and it made me think about Elder Bednar's talk and how some get carried away with technology. It made me half joking/half serious wonder what the answer to this stupid question would be!!!!Yes this was a stupid question.. but does make one think about future possibilities of extremes
KevinG Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 My first thought was:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qk9LK7YCfN0But just like pornography hurts real people spiritually and emotionally I think carrying a virtual relationship into a place where it takes time, energy and emotion away from a real relationship it would be damaging and a sin.
