The city was in an uproar, caused by some dissembling Jews. But it was the Jewish leaders that took up the hue and cry. I still do not see animosity on the part of the twelve themselves.I also really cannot see all of the Noahide laws you listed in the list that was sent out.Acts 21:25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornicationThat is just a subset of the Noahide laws, and the ones that the apostles specifically asked the Gentile converts to follow.I am going to leave it at that. So my question is simple; did Paul alter the gospel of Jesus?There is a good reason your not taught that in Church. Paul records some of the earliest elements of the NT. Some folks just can't hang with his style. 1 Corinthians 8:2"And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know"Just when you think you got Paul figured out, your wrong.. 2
Stone holm Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I think we are reading perhaps too much into the relationship of Peter and Paul. I think Peter nailed when he simply noted that Paul's writings were amenable to being misunderstood to the peril of the reader. To go farther than that and declare war between the two is stretching it too far. There have been far more recent examples of Church leaders not caring much for each other, yet still working together to promote the Kingdom. Brigham Young and John Taylor being an example. We really are fumbling in the dark when we speculate on the internal politics of the early church because of the wholesale manuscript burning carried out by St Augustine who favored Paul's writings over nearly all others of the era, probably because they were so easily wrested to fit the philosophical concepts he was promoting. I think it simpler to say that Paul was a much beloved Saint with an unfortunate writing style. I also tend to discount any analysis which involves taking an Apostles writings and assigning them different author ships . It seems a too convenient way to win arguments.
