Is Thomas S. Monson A Prophet Of God?

Oh, so you expect modern prophets to be wearing robes and sandals and long beards? Interesting. I guess if you are wearing the dress of the day you can't be a prophet because it doesn't fit some preconceived image.

No his subtly just slipped for a moment and it was the best he could do on the spur of the moment.

Years ago, decades, I had asked myself the same question, "where are the new revelations from prophets, seers, and revelators?" I never really found an answer that satisfied me, but I just moved on.

General Conference is a source of those revelations though they are not read as revelations.

It was interesting to me, for example, to have learned that there is a Revelation recorded that was given to President Spencer W. Kimball. I have never seen this revelation as it is said to be recorded however, I believe I know its contents because I was told how a stern command announced in the first line of the revelation reads: Lengthen Your Stride.

We may not hear the revelations as they are received and recorded. Why that would be so, I do not know. But it seems that listening in conference, very carefully, we may detect them. Knowing some hidden information that has been alluded to in some of the GA talks, I have come to realize that sometimes they are very very subtle in revealing certain spiritual things.

You refuse to engage with the reality invoked by the metaphor.

A prophet reveals the mind and will of God. It apears that right now isn't the time that God wants any seas parted. When the time comes whatever prophet is there will part the sea.

This is a statement of faith in contradiction of the evidence.

I hope you take great comfort on your ability to subtly mock what you seem not to understand. It would, in my experience, be ever so much more satisfying to actually attempt to understand that which you mock.

I am afraid it is your who are mocking Joseph Smith.

If it is all up to us to answer our own questions, of what use are fifteen prophets, seers and revelators?

The are of no use to those who don't listen to them.

What is the point of carefully and skillfully only alluding to truths from a prophet though? If God actually does want us to KNOW what to do and KNOW the truth, why not just plainly say so? This makes very little sense to me. Nephi was plain and open in his language, why isn't God through his prophets today? I just don't buy this explanation. In General Conference, this information is supposed to be for the whole world. The plainer it is said, the BETTER people understand. Why would they possibly take a chance for confusion or misunderstanding to arise? If there really is IMPORTANT information from God in General Conference, is there ANY better way than simple talking and telling the open and obvious, as opposed to the difficult and hard?

There are no revelations given in General Conference.

Not in all eight-hours of it (ten if you are fortunate enough to be a man), given two-times per year.

We may not hear the revelations as they are received and recorded. Why that would be so, I do not know.

You do not know because it does not fit into your current world view.

Knowing some hidden information that has been alluded to in some of the GA talks, I have come to realize that sometimes they are very very subtle in revealing certain spiritual things.

Subtlety is not the hallmark of true prophets.

Exactly.

And welcome to the band-wagon bound for hell, Mr. Shirts.

That can't be right........ God never ever damned ANYONE for asking for plain easy to understand answers did He? If so, what kind of God is THAT?

Perhaps you have yet to be introduced to the God of the Correlated Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

But you are right, of course.

It was Nephi who said, "I glory in plainness. I glory in truth. I glory in my Jesus who hath redeemed my soul from hell."

And it was Joseph Smith who said, "I never hear of God damning a man for believing too much, but for believing too little."

They should call you as the President of the Church so you can answer this question for yourself. Why don't you write them a letter?

There are no revelations given in General Conference.

That is absurdly false. President Kimball actually spoke about people like you who believe this.

You do not know because it does not fit into your current world view.

Again false. I do not know because no one who knows has told me why.

Subtlety is not the hallmark of true prophets.

Who are you to say? As far as I can tell.. you are a nobody in the system. Just an anonymous name on a message board. Making negative comments without insight, spirit or wisdom.

Another thread-bare excuse promulgated by prophets who receive no revelation as an excuse for receiving no revelation.

You need to re-read the board rules and purpose of the social hall. Ok how did this get out of the social hall? Anyways this thread should have been closed not moved over here.
