Tacenda Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) http://www.lds.org/e...middle?lang=eng"Consider discussing with thefamily how they are “always in the middle,” even if they are beginning or ending something. Encourage them to do their best on their current activities, not dwelling on the past or waiting for the next activity or project. You may want to suggest they choose one thing they can do to implement this counsel and set a date to achieve their goal."I know this quote has nothing to do with "middle wayers" like myself. But just wondering if there is room in the church for "fence sitters" that need to sit a spell with out crossing over to either side just yet. As long as they're not making noise about it. Is there any place at the table for them? Or are they in the way, causing germs of some unbelief, what are your feelings? Edited June 25, 2012 by Tacenda
selek1 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) The Prophet Joseph once said, "Before you joined this Church you stood on neutral ground. When the gospel was preached, good and evil were set before you. You could choose either or neither. There were two opposite masters inviting you to serve them. When you joined this Church you enlisted to serve God. When you did that you left the neutral ground, and you never can get back on to it. Should you forsake the Master you enlisted to serve, it will be by the instigation of the evil one, and you will follow his dictation and be his servant.’ ”In that regard, there are no fence sitters. Once you have chosen the Church, you are either yearning towards Zion or you are not. That having been said, we all progress at different rates in the Gospel - and that rate is not constant, even in the most diligent Saint. There will be periods of great inertia, and periods of stagnation. There will even be periods of retrenchment. There will be questions and issues you cannot resolve, and so must "put on a shelf for a time".So long as you are moving forward (at however slow a crawl) with an eye single to God's glory, it will be well with you.As has been stated so many times before, the Church is not a resort for the perfected- but a hospital for the sick. mentalgymnast Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Revelation 3:15-16.This particular scripture is referring to works. If Tacenda is practicing orthopraxy, isn't that good enough? At least until he's able to resolve issues one way or the other, pro or con in regards to the church/gospel? For the Lord to spew him out of his mouth for practicing middle way mormonism at this point in time while at the same time his works are orthopractic, seems a bit harsh. When all is said and done, aren't we judged by our works? With some mercy thrown in for good measure? Regards,MG
Palerider Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) Might I suggest that you (Tacenda) read the New Testament (especially the Gospels) and then make up your mind about Christ first and whether you will believe in Him and follow His words and counsel that are contained there. If you choose Christ the rest will become less and less relevant and eventually insignificant. Edited June 25, 2012 by Palerider 1
