altersteve Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 Well, there's this:Luckily, it's nether a declaration nor proclamation, so it isn't official.I thought I should point out that I don't believe we should use other Bible translations to learn about biblical doctrine. But the Church has not said that we should not own or read other translations for educational purposes, or that we should not compare translations as an intellectual exercise.

I only posted that in case the openness of the Church to other Bible translations was overstated.
Ron Beron Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 It is said that J.R.R. Tolkien had a hand in the original Jerusalem Bible, contributing drafts of Jonah and Job. I don't know how much, if any, of his work survives in the New Jerusalem Bible. Maybe someone can run a wordprint study. That's interesting and something I haven't heard. I like because I had a professor who helped in the translation.
