Optimal Age To Recieve Endowment?

Interesting, thanks. I guess I'm in a similar situation, as I converted earlier this year at 24 (I'm 25 now), and although I'd love to be able to serve a mission, I don't think now is a good time for a number of reasons (especially because of my non-member family and how they would react). So, I'm looking to hopefully be endowed in February/March, and my bishop is encouraging me to prepare for that.

For the record, my father's a pentecostal minister. Wasn't happy at all about my having joined the Church. I'm still the only member in my own (pre-marriage) family. I had met the girl I wanted to marry before I decided to serve. When I decided to serve, my future-wife, who had also been having feelings like she should serve a mission, decided to go as well, leaving a few months after I did, returning a few months before me. Otherwise, we both served at the same time. Me in the U.S., her in Canada. That was awesome, and has been an experience neither of us regret. Two years and one month later from the day I left, we were married.

Great story.

I was raised Catholic and then became an atheist, but my philosophy was very compatible with Mormonism. I met the woman who taught me about the church and I instantly saw the parallels.

We got sealed one year and four days after I got baptized. But I was 31 so the mission was out unfortunately. Hopefully we will both be able to go on one soon now that I am an old guy! She has stayed 25- not quite how she manages that mystery.....

That is awesome, given your age I can’t imagine any reason why you would be denied a temple recommend. I have heard, on occasion, of Stake Presidents who are hard and fast about only giving recommends for those being sealed of going on a mission.
