Lets take a look at what Evangelical Christians realy think when applying the label "Cult" to Mormons.While not on the level with Silvio Burlesconi and his "Bunga Bunga sex parties, there are other characters in history who can be likened to Joseph Smith:Charles Manson had a harem of women who adored him. tattooed their foreheads shaved their heads to emulate their god/prophet. If not, I'm not sure how useful they are in determining how something is commonly viewed in a larger community.Personally I think Jeffress' admission that it was pejorative is all that is needed to prove its inappropriateness in interfaith discussion and says a lot about what is going on intrafaith for those communities who have latched on to the term. No I don't think so.Can CARMites be use as examples of very conservative evangelicals who have never given critical thought to their own beliefs? Definitely.
