english gent Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I agree with Zerinus (the previous reply). There generally seems to be a lot of speculation here relating to the original question about salvation for aliens. The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-Day Saints teaches that we are the literal children of our Father in Heaven, made in His image and that we have the potential to become like Him (in other words, to achieve our true potential) and to dwell with Him and our elder brother Jesus Christ forever in the Highest Degree of the Celestial Kingdom. This is earned through obedience to His commandmants.Furthermore, there have been and I'm sure will continue to be other worlds - and He will continue to populate them with His children (who no doubt will also all be in His image). Heavenly Father has created animals who share our world with us (from snails to lions etc) and I suppose it stands to reason that He has created other animal life forms on other worlds that we have not encountered, but the idea that there are 'aliens' (bug eyed or otherwise) who are equivalent to US as His children, or who are somehow His children and yet aren't made in His image, or that belong to another God and are creatalso ed in a completely different image - and that yet may achieve eternal life - is not taught by the LDS Church. The LDS Church simply affirms that we are all children of our Heavenly Father and that we have the potential to become like Him.
