Regarding the marriage of the older women, it just serves to show that he was interested in obtaining as many as possible regardless of age, so long as they were in the relative bloom of life. The taking of younger women who most would deem inappropriate to his age, is just a magnification of the primary aberation.

And what constitutes the bloom of life? Here is what I think: JS married most of the women within a period of two years several years after his marriage to Fanny Alger. What was the reason for JS to risk it all for repracticing polygamy? Was it to have sex with multiple women? If so, not one of his wives wrote about his lust addiction after he was murdered. Not one felt abused or used after they were sealed to JS. And some of these women did not follow the saints westward.

Or was it because he felt pressured to reinstate the practice regardless of the consequences? We need to remember that he was murdered because of his polygamy. And from what I have read, he was not exactly a fan of the practice and knew the possible consequences for practicing it.

And how do we discount the spiritual confirmations from some of these women when they prayed about the practice before being married to him?
