Lds Tools For Windows Phone 7 Now Available

Just in case anyone on the forum has or is considering getting one of the Windows Phone 7 smartphones, LDSTech released its first WP7 app to the Marketplace yesterday. This is the WP7 edition of LDS Tools.

FYI, LDSTech is the church's official software development effort. See http://tech.lds.org/

LDS Tools is the app (already available for iPhone/iPod and I believe Android) that enables connection with your stake/ward membership rosters and calendars. This is of value to LDS members with LDS accounts (which if you haven't yet signed up for, you can do so on the lds.org site). Non-members will not be able to get an LDS Account (you have to have a membership number and a confirmation date) and so this is of no value to them.

Of course all these mobile apps are free!

Other WP7 tools in the works are:

• Gospel Library for WP7, which will be released "soon". I don't have the release date, but the latest word I have received is that is undergoing final testing and bug-fixing. I have this tool on my wife's iPod, and it is fantastic! Conference talks, lesson manuals, the complete set LDS scriptures, and more! You can pick and choose which parts you want to download to your device.
• LDS Youth - provides featured content from the Church's Youth website on the Windows Phone. With this application, you can get mobile access to videos, articles, music, and Mormonads all specifically tailored to youth in a fun and engaging way. LDS Youth also allows you to share content so you can let your friends enjoy what the Church has to offer to young men and women. This application is also a great resource for parents and leaders of youth for teaching at home or in Church settings.
• Book of Mormon 1.0 (targetted at investigators)
• Mormon Channel

Note that due to the longer availability of iPhone/iPod, more LDS mobile apps are available for this platform than Android, Blackberry or any other.
