Wants2know Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I was doing some investment research and came upon this link to Dave Ramsey. For whatever reason, it has made the most sense to me regarding tithing. Thought I'd share it and see what others thought. Dave Ramsey on Tithing
bluebell Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I thought it was a good explanation. It also seesm to be a bit different than what he used to counsel people to do as we have his book and i'm pretty sure in it he advised to stop paying tithing until they were out of debt. I think if i were going to add anything to what he said, it would be to remember that it's not 'our' money that we are giving. It's God's money that we are returning to Him. I think that's an important distinction. Also, i would add that tithing isn't just for us to learn to be more selfless and giving. It's for us to learn to have faith in the Lord. That's one of the reasons that i don't believe it's acceptable to Him for us to stop paying tithing when our finances get tight or to achieve financial goals. We can't exercise faith in the Lord and the blessings He promises if we are essentially telling Him "I don't trust that you will take care of us if I give you this money right now so I'm going to keep it".
