Noble and Great Pneumatics?

Does anyone see a possible correlation between "noble and great ones", pneumatics, and those gifted "by the Holy Ghost to know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that he was crucified for the sins of the world"?

Is it possible that some are simply better able to acquire spiritual knowledge while others must rely upon their words?

Does anyone believe that we place a premium in the church on personally acquiring spiritual knowledge through esoteric experiences? If so, does this conflict with the recognition that to others it is given to believe on [another's] words, that they also might have eternal life if they continue faithful. Why or why not?

Can a true disciple follow based only on belief in another's words?

I don't know what pneumatics, i.e. the physical porpoerties of airs and gasses has to do with your subject. Is it possible that you meant something else, or am I just lost?

Hi Glenn :P

I meant this kind of pneumatic:

The pneumatics ("spiritual", from Greek ??????, "spirit") were, in gnosticism, the highest order of humans, the other two orders being psychics and hylics. The pneumatic saw himself as escaping the doom of the material world via the secret knowledge. Outsiders could only know these secrets by joining a gnostic group. To be a gnostic is to believe in three planes of existence: the pure unknown (demiurge), the material world of coitus and comfort, and the pure spiritual realm of ascension or escape.

Yep, I was lost in the physical world. My vocation has involved me with all types of pneumatic devices but I had never sought the origins of the term. Thanks for the education.

Noble and Great Ones, I believe, must be actionary. They need not be actionary in the beginning, but at least actionary in the end. They must be people not living off of others faith, that they must.
