Anijen
Alma 12:1... to unfold the scriptures beyond that which Amulek had done.Mosiah 2:9And these are the words which he spake and caused to be written, saying: My brethren, all ye that have assembled yourselves together, you that can hear my words which I shall speak unto you this day; for I have not commanded you to come up hither to trifle with the words which I shall speak, but that you should hearken unto me, and open your ears that ye may hear, and your hearts that ye may understand, and your minds that the mysteries of God may be unfolded to your view.Just running a bit from Mark Wrights wonderful observations. These are remarkable (they are to me anyway). The Book of Mormon speaks on how the words were thrown away and burned and later that is exactly what happens to so much of what is left of the Mayan history (on paper). Cortes and his group burned many, all but four known codices. I read the the word unfolding now from the Book of Mormon in a new light. It reminds me of Brother Gardners comment that he no longer looks for the Book of Mormon in Mesoamerica but Mesoamerica in the Book of Mormon. (Hope I got that right).Discuss?Anijen Link to comment

Anyhow I wonder why such Christians would destroy such works, but leave much of stone glyphs hanging around and not order them destroyed. Interesting though on looking at it from Gardners perspective. I never considered that approach. However wouldn't other peers say you'd be taking something still and working back to substantiate that claim? Well like I mailed you about Mirador, maybe you guys got something pristine to approach. I may be straying off subject here, but I also have a hard time with the LGT theory. I feel if it's more broader than the enclosed areas. Just really feel that after Nephi split from his brothers he traveled across and up north along the Mississippi area all the way to the Great Lakes. I've been reading a series of articles in past issues of Ancient American and discoveries of mining and smelters, along with fortified walls along the Mississippi regions sure looks like someone trying to keep someone out. I cite the resources but in their magazines but I have to go look up. However you have to subscribe to AA to see their articles on-line and I'm so pake (cheap). Link to comment
Brant Gardner
I agree with Mark Wright's observation on burning. However, I looked at the "unfolding" idea. I thought it was a pretty cool correlation, until it didn't happen enough (just this one reference?). Since this isn't a foreign English idiom and since it doesn't consistently describe the way scriptures are used, it didn't seem to me to be useful connection. I know a couple 'big names' who have promoted the idea, though. Link to comment
