LifeOnaPlate Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 How about we all stop calling him an apostate? It only encourages him!
Mike Reed Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Actually, that message from the mods was directed at Obiwan...but whatever.Right. But the message still seems to apply.

Mike Reed Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I have never called him an apostate. zerinusNot explicitly. But implicitly you have. Keep your accusatory implications to yourself.
auteur55 Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I personally don't believe the church does call traditional Christianity apostate. In fact when I am at church meetings or watching general conference and other faiths are mentioned all I usually here are nice things. So even though we preach an apostasy or falling away from the early Priesthood and the ordinances I don't see where we are saying that traditional Christianity as it exists today is "apostate." On the other hand Mormons are told they are not Christian when they clearly believe in and follow Christ. Therefore those making this claim are either in error or are outright lying.I just can't see any paradox existing.

consiglieri Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 I though he was just feeling left out, and this was another attempt to get back into Consig's sig line. That is exactly what I think to myself every time I see an Obiwan diatribe. But for now, I am happy cruising at low altitude letting the kinder and gentler Herr Schwarz MoClips do the signatory duties for a while. All the Best!--Consiglieri
LifeOnaPlate Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 call me a christian or i'll smack you in the mouth!
Sentinus Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Great comment. Agreed.zerinusHas the authority of the message given to Joseph in the grove changed? God told him that the churches were all corrupt and abominable, which is fine if you believe in the need for a restoration, but highly inflammatory if the restoration itself is a fraud. Unless todays churches have somehow become more righteous since Josephs day I am aware of no retraction of the current state of "Christianity" by any General authorities, nor the renunciation of past attacks against the tinkling symbol that is "Christianity".â??Our message is so imperative, when you stop to think that the salvation, the eternal salvation of the world, rests upon the shoulders of this Church. When all is said and done, if the world is going to be saved, we have to do itâ? ( Church News, 3 July 1999, 3.) Again if true this message should be shared, but don't expect people who disagree for good reason to sit quietly by and allow this message to be brought door to door, daily. Regards,Sentinus
