Avatar4321 Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I simply took your words and placed them in my perspective to make the point that it is rather insulting to suggest that YOU are following men who speak for God while others are consciously choosing to avoid God and follow men. Such arrogance is not very conducive to dialogue either Lightbearer.Thanks. Please don't be to disapointed if I don't end up in hell.No one wants you in hell. However, I can understand why the truth is insulting to you. Truth is often hard to swallow.
Luigi Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 None of us wish anyone ends up in a bad place. Could you handle it if you at some time see the light, and then meet all of us on the other side and find us delighted that you made it?Absolutely. Though I sincerely hope that if there is a God that He has enough power and enough love that such a reunion will occur regardless of what religion or non-religion we have embraced in this relatively short lifetime.
Kyle Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 If it's incommunicatable then obviously I can't communicate the experience. All I can do is use imperfect analogies. How is it observable? People are joining the Church every day because of it. It's only directly observable if you experience it yourself, but it is observable. Yes, they are their own evidence. As I said, the experience is unmistakable. Have you never encountered something for which there is only one possible explanation?I have had an experience like that, And the experience was unmistakable. The only explanation was that God manifested himself to me, and he spake directly to me.You know what he said? All religions are wrong, except the FLDS. I know with every fiber of my being that the reorganized church is true. And you wonder why some do not wish to have dialogue with you... Have a nice eternity. How ironic. No one wants you in hell. However, I can understand why the truth is insulting to you. Truth is often hard to swallow. How ironic.
Mola Ram Suda Ram Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Your opinion of the BoM is not universally shared. In fact, it's shared by a minuscule percentage of the general public, and that percentage drops precipitously with increased education levels (excepting, of course, Mormons born into the religion, but that's another topic.)MC I have not bery much respect for this type of posting. So apparently everyon that Joins is stopid or the "smart ones" are just born into and are too lazy to get out. I sense that you have committed 2 logical fallicies. This isnt my porblem but yours.I suggest that you stop being so offensive.I reguard my self as a rather intelligent person. The people that joined on my mission I reguard them as intelligent too. Oh I see only people that are dumb could fall for such an obvious fraud. Get over your self.
Mola Ram Suda Ram Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 The most remarkable thing in the book of mormon....Hebrews who used modern Greek and French words, wrote in reformed Egyptian, and didn't have a clue of Jewish traditions and customs. Not one celebration of the Seder, Purim, or Shavuot. Thanks for making us laugh.

I know with every fiber of my being that the reorganized church is true.I don't believe you are being sincere. Is the prevelence of atheism in our institutions of higher learning really a result of higher intelligence, or is it a result of the culture indoctrinated in the student in those institutions along with the education?
Avatar4321 Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 How ironic. You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.
The Dude Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.Quoting myself:It's pretty much a throwaway remark. You say it when you want to draw non-specific attention to a point: you say, it's so ironic that ____. Do you notice people on the other side of the argument drawing attention to so-called ironies, and you sit there saying, "so what?" An irony is not a logical contradiction.http://www.mormonapologetics.org/index.php...entry1208243177
Luigi Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 However, I can understand why the truth is insulting to you. Truth is often hard to swallow. If I felt confident that Mormonism was true I would think it an easy pill to swallow. I have always maintained that if I was confident any religion was true I would gladly make any changes necessary to follow it to my utmost capacity-it would be utterly foolish not to. Now on the other hand swallowing the truth that I have accepted now was extremely hard, exhilirating and inevitable, but hard.
Lightbearer Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I simply took your words and placed them in my perspective to make the point that it is rather insulting to suggest that YOU are following men who speak for God while others are consciously choosing to avoid God and follow men. Such arrogance is not very conducive to dialogue either Lightbearer.Thanks. Please don't be to disapointed if I don't end up in hell.Oh I see... seems as if it makes you feel more comfortable if you project the "arrogance" label onto others, especially those who declare that they know there is a God. Do you think it is pride that compels me to declare what I know? Why should I display doubts if I have none? Must I pretend to not be sure of my testimony in order to have dialogue with you? Do you not think your condescending mocking could be considered any less arrogant than my assurance that God lives and loves each of us, even those who do not believe and deny His existence. If you do not want to see foolish ignorant people discussing their belief in God then why do you come to these boards? Just to contend against the truth? Also I never said I wanted you to go to hell... those are your words. I said have a nice eternity... meaning I hope you are satisfied with the life you have chosen, because there is nothing more I can say that would make one bit of difference. Actually I do hope we shall meet on the other side and I hope at that time we are friends and brothers.
Luigi Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Do you not think your condescending mocking could be considered any less arrogant than my assurance that God lives and loves each of us, even those who do not believe and deny His existence. Both of us can remain confident of our beliefs while still remaining open to the possibility that we are wrong. Your statements suggest you have completely shut that door. I often try to evaluate evidence offered by theists for their claims and ask myself if I could have missed something or be wrong in my thinking. I feel I owe it both to myself and to the proponents of such ideas. If you do not want to see foolish ignorant people discussing their belief in God then why do you come to these boards? Just to contend against the truth?I come here because for one it is an enjoyable past time for me and second I think it is important both as individuals and as a society that we stop relying on rigid dogma to evaluate the best courses of action for the good of humanity. Thanks. Though I don't believe there is a life after death I would hope that if I am wrong that we would meet just as you describe.
