why me Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I do not have an extra $15 dollars to spend on a book I do not want to read. I simply want his reference material. Does anybody have the sources? You can find it perhaps in a second-hand bookshop for half-price. Also, Santa will be coming next month. Write that santa letter and who knows it may be under your tree on christmas morning. That's if you were good!
Dale Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 In some regards this answers my concerns. I do not have a problem so much even with women being sealed to him who have non-member husbands. My main issue is with the married, previously seal couples. I am feeling better after reading the vast postings on this issue. In an answer to the question posed by you in another area regarding Todd Covingtons? book, anti- was a little strong. the review I read was on shields website. They gave a very detailed review of the book and quoted from the book, but the conclusions on the practicing of Joseph Smith of adultery was implied in the book not clearly defined. From what I read of the review, Todd ? take was based on the RLDS viewpoint or perspective.Todd Compton is an LDS scholar. From what i heard from other's he is active in his church. I havn't heard anything bad about him as a person by other LDS. I think he speculate's at time's, but he is a human being. He assume's Joseph Smith had affair's with married women. His problem is his documents do not actually prove Joseph Smith spent any time alone with married women. I used to read some of the document's that way, but my interpretation of certain document's are different now.Sarah Ann Whitney is on the polyandry list. Joseph Smith wrote an 1842 letter to her parents, and Sarah to come over where he was in hiding. The document does not drop her off to be alone with Joseph Smith. Concern's about Emma not being present is expressed. But Joseph Smith may have been just afraid to tell Emma about this sealing even if platonic. The document seem's to be an invite to participate in some kind of temple ceremony, and not some clandestine tryst. I don't see enough in the document to say we know she was ever alone with Joseph smith. I think she got sealed to Joseph Kingsbury after she was sealed to Joseph Smith. A pretended marriage statement by Joseph Kingsbury, and a Bishop Whitney marriage ceremony he used to seal Sarah and Joseph Smith are also abused. Those documents are used to say she was alone with Joseph Smith. I am not aware of any of the 11 women who were ever previously sealed. Some were i think also later sealed to the living husband for time in the temple. I think they were re-sealed to Joseph Smith at the same time by proxy after his death. I think they wanted wanted proper temple records. One husband i think wanted his kids, and wife sealed to him instead of Joseph. The LDS Church i think allowed him to do that. So that may have given her a release from Joseph Smith in the eternity. I am probably twisting what happened as my memory unless i look things up can be flawed. If i recall right Henry Jacob's was Zina Huntington's husband. After Joseph's death she preferred Brigham Young over remaining with Henry. But she was only married to Brigham young in the temple for time. Henry was never sealed to Zina for both time, and for eternity. Both would have been considered a surrogate husband in Joseph's place for mortality. Her name is on the polyandry list.
