Dont get me wrong, I think the paintings of Jesus with a child on His lap are good, but I also like the ones in which He is angry and ready to lay down the law. I also think we need more of the latter. Both are good and necessary. I just think that the meek and nurturing side of the Lord Jesus is just way too dominant in our american depictions of Him. Jesus is a real man. He isnt some sissy boy. "What would Jesus do" is really influenced by your/our conception of what He is like. I personally prefer the Jesus of reality, the One that is in the scriptures. He isnt afraid to show emotion. He can cry in public as well as raise hell. He can get impatient, sarcastic, reassuring, nurturing and is zealous for truth and justice. He isnt afarid to tell the truth. he knows how perfect and divine He, is while still being humble enough to want us to be where he is and have what He has.

why do you keep associating the feminine with sissy-ness? Why are you associating meek and nurturing with sissy ways? That's my biggest question in regards to your argument.

I rather wonder if the depictions of Jesus that are dominant in our culture are partly seen as "sissy" because Jesus ends up looking somewhat like a hippie, complete with birkenstocks. I really do think it's less about "what" he's portrayed doing that is considered weak or strong(ie, yelling and raising his hand or holding a kid), and more about his actual appearance. Which by the way, is the same in both the manly and art depictions. The still picture from "Jesus of Nazareth" does not look commanding to me at all actually, because the man who played Jesus in that production is very meek looking period. He looked like someone who would fall over if you blew on him.

Little Boy = idolizes the heroes who know how to beat someone down(Mine:He-Man, Thundercats, Ninja Turtles)

Conclusion: Men still want their heroes and those they idolize to be able to unleash some righteous fury.

Nehor, I am trying to envision a portrait of Jesus as a Ninja Turtle, but that is rather far out there even for me. I was able to locate some pictures of of Jesus toting a hand gun and a rifle for Her Amun, but I found those distasteful. Jesus should be about love and caring, which have sometimes been associated as female traits; since Jesus embodied these, they extend to men as well.

Rather than a more macho Jesus in art, perhaps one could get a car with a long front end and feel just as content.
