And so, if the Spirit of God rested upon me in great power, my father's blessing

to my child would be of no better/greater effect, than if I had no measure of the

Spirit with me, at the time of my giving that blessing? Because I am not LDS -- ???

Just wondering what various people's experiences have been.

I don't know how God's Spirit would rest upon you in great power if you were not living and doing enough to have a testimony enough to believe in the Church. Also, why would you trust in a way of doing things that you say is so false?

I have, on occasion, invited Mormons to come to Reorganized LDS meetings -- not just Sunday worship,

but extended "camp out" meetings lasting several days, where speaking in tongues, administration

healings, and other gifts of the Holy Spirit are sometimes manifested.

One finally came -- and in testimony meeting he stood to reveal to the assembled Saints that he

was gay --- that initiated quite a discussion and aftermath, but (sadly) he left eventually, saying that

while RLDS appeared to be "good peple," he did not see any greater evidence of God's favor among

their ranks than among the Mormons.

Question -- have any of this MB's LDS participants ever witnessed a manifestation of the Holy Spirit

among a people who are NOT Mormons????

Do you think those on the day of Pentecosts were members of the church? It'd have been awfully weird of Peter to suggest they be baptised then receive the gift of the HG (exclusive from it's manifestations).

I was thinking more along the lines of a modern Quaker meeting or a Seventh Day Adventist prayer vigil.

I have a hard time accepting the jibberous concerning talking in tongues, yet nobody understands. Paul gave explicit instruction that 1 or 2 speak and have translation, else it's worthless. The purpose of such is to expound and to illuminate...not show off. Given that, I must reject a great many of these protestant incidences simply because they are blatantly contrary to scripture.
