I have explained to you how such skepticism can and has been combatted in the past: one way of doing so requires you to find some excavated inscribed objects with readable BoM names on them; and it would certainly be very good if they were in a version of Hebrew or Egyptian script.

The way to combat skeptism is to ignore it. You will have to make a decision on the BOM, and that decision will have eternal consequences.

The burden ultimately lies with you. The rest of us are just enjoying a hobby. If you have a question or educated comment, it's my priviledge to respond.

The position your argument operates against is the position that claims that it is impossible that any evidence could ever be found supporting the reality of Nephite culture.

Again, the burden lies with you on showing us how, within the constraints of the BOM text (not the cartoon version), and archeology how to identify Nephite/Lamanite artifacts.

If you say it is "impossible", I will take your word for it. I do not know how to do it, but I really don't care one way or another. YOU are the one who cares.

You can of course then point to an unread stela, and say 'how do you know that it doesn't say "I Nephi being born of goodly parents ...".' My claimed certainty of the impossibility of your proving your case would then technically fail.

But that is not the way I argued at all. Nor do I think any serious critic of the BoM would do that either. We don't need to, since as the ones who claim Nephites are real you are the ones with the burden of proof.

Read the BOM, pray about it, and the Lord will answer your prayer. That is the only means to know for sure. The responsibility is between you and the Lord.

OK. If I understand your argument correctly, the essense is: "I choose not to believe in the Book of Mormon because no one is able to read inscriptions that are purported to be from BoM cultures, and therefore no one has been able to discover any BoM names on these inscriptions." It is certainly your prerogative to believe that way.

I find Nephite artifacts every time I open the BoM. Everything else is just a nice piece of parsley.
