fatherofone Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Because the Spirit speakes to the heart and the mind.Guess I am confused by that
Zakuska Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Yes. It can be confusing. But when you have the experience... theres no denying it.
fatherofone Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Yes. It can be confusing. But when you have the experience... theres no denying it.I have had experiences where I thought I had the spirit, but not sure anymore
emeliza Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Those experiences, did they make you happy? Or miserable? Did you follow them? Or question them? They always tell us to follow the spirit. Maybe you need to see what the spirit (these feelings that you can't quite discern) and see what they produce. Maybe your looking too deeply into it. It can be rather simple though, the spirit isn't generally complex. Um...within reason. If the spirit tells you to do something that could cause harm to another....call your doctor. (I am serious on that one.)

(I am serious on that one.)They were very happy experiences, giving blessings was always an uplifting experience, I have felt at times after prayer great impressions or thoughts. My wife and I were separated for four years and got back together, and I used to believe that was because God intervened...now its just like I dunno I have filled my head with other stuff, so I am unsure anymore...I dunno sorry
emeliza Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Go back to the simple things. Life is tough. We always question things and wil not have many of the answers in this lifetime. However, if you were happy and joyful when you were feeling the spirit, why are you questioning it now. For me, when I start to question the spirit and God and everything, I have to remember what I felt like when I did feel the spirit. I have to remember the fruits it produced. They were good and pure and true. It is hard sometimes because life is really a trial....a very tough trial, but God will support you. Christ will walk with you. The Holy Ghost will comfort you. Alma 32 is my favorite chapter. Maybe it will help you.

rhinomelon Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 I guess I am just questioning that he is with me....I do not feel his pressence, and I catch myself wondering if I ever didDo you believe that you have to feel God's presence at all times for it to be true?Just curious. Take care
emeliza Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Yeah, I go thru that sometimes too. I think it is common. A test of faith. Don't give up on Him though. Remember what it was like when you were a child and had that faith that was so pure. Remember what it was like when you did feel Him. Even though you are now questioning it, sit and remember the feelings that washed over and thru you. They were so good and honestly, (for me at least) can't even be described as feelings. He might be withdrawn a bit, but He is still there. Pray to Him. And remember Him. And ask what He wants you to do, now what you want to do, but what He wants you to do. Tell Him your fears and that you feel He isn't there. Honestly, talk to Him.

I do remember those feelings its just that I have about convinced my self I never had them
emeliza Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Why are you convincing yourself that way? You liked life better when you had faith right? Besides, faith isn't knowing, it is hoping for things. So from what it sounds like, you are hoping for things and that would meet the requirement. Your faith isn't strong, but it isn't gone either. Can you PM yet?
rhinomelon Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 But I have been taught that if I do not pray with faith it is worthless. I do remember those feelings its just that I have about convinced my self I never had themI always have to balance the "must pray with faith" with "I believe, Lord; Help my unbelief!" Like that guy in the gospels. God knows all about our weakness, and He does not demand that you raise yourself up to some high standard before He'll listen to you. He comes to you. I'll be gone for the weekend. In the meantime, everybody take care

Bee Eff Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 How many early Church Fathers can you quote that say that God the Father was once a man?Arius believed Christ was a man that became a god. Other interpretations of his writings are possible, but I believe this is an accurate statement of his belief. He believed that Christ existed premortally, became a man, died and resurrected, a god.
