William the Conqueror Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 The Lord judges us by our hearts. I wonder if anti's would consider the God of Abraham a lier because he had Abraham take his only son out to a place with a specific command to sacrifice this son to Him.Then He supposedly changed His mind after finding Abraham was willing to do it. Well if the God of Abraham is all knowing, wasn't it a lie to tell the man to do something He had no intention of seeing through?Hmmmmm lies? I think the lie is in the minds of those accusing. Those who do not use understanding first, do not have the kind of hearts Christ would back. Therefore it is an oxymoron or just moron-ic to call anything lying for Jesus.' God is not a man that He should lie or the son of man that He should repent. ' PsalmsGod was testing Abraham and didn't really change His mind. God is omniscient. When God was about to destroy all Israel, Moses interceded and it says in some translations that God repented of what He was about to do. Yet God knew all along what He would do.As for his chosen ones, Rahab lied about the spies who were on her roof hidden in the flax, yet she was blessed for it. One Sunday school teacher said from that passage it is OK to lie for national security.
cksalmon Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Hammer--But this isn't a primary reason. Something is logically prior to this. This is a result. If true, then it is a good reason not to criticize the Church: namely, one loses the Holy Ghost and becomes, per your statement, possessed by demons. But why does that result occur, if you believe it does, when one criticizes the Church? What is the logically prior reason that makes it always wrong to criticize the Church?Best.CKSI realize it's a bit off topic, but I was really hoping Hammer could provide his perspective on this question.[bump]Best.CKSI wasn't going to ask again, but since someone has resurrected the thread, I'll take this last opportunity to ask Hammer to answer my sincere question, which I know he has, by this time, read. Pretty please?Best.CKS
