Dan McClellan in KSL News Article About Rainn Wilson singing with the Tabernacle Choir

A couple of weeks ago I saw this video posted by Dan McClellan:

In the video Dan Beecher and Rainn Wilson said they would join the LDS church if they could "be in the Tabernacle Choir".

This doesn't quite count as being "in" the Tabernacle Choir, but yesterday KSL news had the following article headline:

'My dream has come true': Rainn Wilson sings with the Tabernacle Choir

Rainn Wilson is working on a documentary exploring what God means in the modern world and is meeting with people from different faiths as part of the project.  He joined the choir and orchestra for a practice last week and watched their Music and the Spoken Word performance on Sunday.

The KSL article mention's Dan McClellan's video and posts a link to it:

Quote

Wilson is best known for his role as Dwight Schrute in "The Office" and has made multiple comments about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the last few weeks.

One such instance was a video made at Wilson's Soul Boom studio Dan McClellan, who is a member of the church, and Dan Beecher, who hosts a podcast with McClellan. In the video, Wilson and Beecher said they would join the church if they were let into the Tabernacle Choir.

Wilson's "audition" may be a bit off-key, but he hadn't had time to practice.

In another video at the studio, Wilson said he watched missionaries reunite with their families for an hour and 15 minutes at the Salt Lake City International Airport and said the experience was "better than any nature documentary." He said, "maybe these Mormons have got something right" after seeing the families' "genuine adoration."

I presume the video mentioned in the last paragraph of the quote above is this one, posted in July of 2025:

There may be a different original source to this video, as this one is framed with a Book of Mormon quote from Enos 1:3.

But I thought it was interesting that Dan McClellan got mentioned in a KSL news article as well.

I did see this, but I'm kind of waiting for the other shoe to fall, like the promotion of a documentary that has to do with the church focused on our lifestyles and he is just cultivating our goodwill. The real lifestyles of the ideal Latter-day Saint would do well. I can see him remaining impressed, but he may not stick with it if there isn't more to it. The more interesting part is seeing possibly Dan McClellan promoting the faith behind the scenes, Dan is at the very least a lifestyle Latter-day Saint, so I'd imagine Dan could be laying down positive facts about the church and made a secular case for why he is a member. I don't know if Dan includes faith in the spiritual truth claims, just because those seem to be things Dan seems to keep private, but who truly knows if he opens up one on one. If he doesn't, it wouldn't be the first time I've seen a podcaster do things like promote the Christian lifestyle and openly wants society to be more Christian despite personally not believing in God, like Asmongold.
