Mayor Defacto Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 Thank you so much for posting! I feel so bad for them. I can't imagine how deflating it must be to have your heart set on a mission and then have to go home.

I had a ward member who took a 15 hour bus ride through Argentina in order to fly home. Then a long flight to Salt Lake before one more flight the next day. They were stopped numerous times by authorities in Argentina. It was a long journey home for them. 1
Ratbag Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 During WWII, there were two missionaries called off their missions because the US government drafted them in spite of their temporary exemptions. My dad was one of them. He had been out about 9 months when he was notified he was to report to the draft board. He was in his second are for only six weeks, which is where he met my mom. Instead of being drafted, he joined the Navy.
